You are so on my wavelength, I just noticed your my kids talk with their hands blinkie. I do a few signs with Daphne so far, mostly milk (lol) and i love you. Any pointers? How early do you start? My SIL is majoring in ASL and she told me to start ASAP, she will catch up when her motorskills develop, so I started this week.

We only do about 10 signs constantly, Desmond never really did more then 5 or 6 at his peak, though he does still do 2 or 3 even now. I need to actually work on them a bit more with both of them.

The basic set that I do is more, all done, milk, eat, sleep, and diaper. I also do a few food signs like banana, strawberry, carrot, and apple. I really like the signing time videos too, Desmond has really enjoyed them as well. I did take a signing class with Desmond when he was about 6 months old, but haven't bothered to with Eloise, since I know the basics and can get the rest I need from signing time.

I have found it really useful to know some signs even if Desmond never used a ton, it made things a lot easier even with him only using 5 or so signs.

There was a 13-month-old in our Kindermusik class that kept signing for "more" after were did one she really liked (usually involved them flying through the air). It was *so cute*. I ordered Baby Signing Time but haven't watched it yet.

btw, do you have a sign for "avocado"?

I know there is one, but I don't know what it is. Almost all words have a sign language word as well since it is a foreign language and finger spelling can take time. I had a site bookmarked with a bunch of signs, but I seem to have deleted/lost it.

Awesome! Thanks so much! I'd found one place that listed having it, but they wanted you to pay for access :P
