Selin just turned 8 mos last week and we have been having these struggles for at least a few months now.
Naps: During the week, she usually only gets one decent nap during the day. I have to leave for work by 10:30am and she usually gets tired by 9-9:30. I start the nap routine as soon as I see she's tired but most days, she either fights it (even though she's clearly tired) or wakes as soon as I put her in her crib. This means that she doesn't nap for the sitter until 12/1pm. I get home from work around 3/3:30pm and usually she gets tired shortly thereafter so we go through the same thing again. Right now she is clearly tired but won't nurse to sleep.
Another nap issue - I used to be able to put her down awake and she would fuss for a little bit but put herself to sleep. She'll do this for the sitters but at home, ever since she started actively rolling, she WILL NOT go down for a nap awake. I put her down after nursing when she's nice and sleepy but as soon as she goes down, she rolls over, gets stuck in the crib and cries.
Same thing as bedtime - she will only go down after she is nursed to sleep. I love nursing her to sleep but sometimes it takes an hour to get her to bed. Not to sound selfish, but nighttime is the only time I have to get stuff done and spend time with DH. If she's really tired, she'll go down in 30 minutes but it's hit or miss.
In all situations, I'm in a quiet, dark room with her with white noise and she's been changed.
Help! There's got to be an easier way for me to put her down for naps and bedtime so I'm not spending hours a day!
