I am looking for some help. Simon is almost 9
Maybe try some hemp doublers? I don't have any, but they're supposed to be really thin and extra absorbant. They do absorb slower than others, so you would still need cotton or microfiber with it, but it's worth a shot, right?
Once you figure it out, please let us know what works! Peter's gearing up to be a heavy wetter.
ETA: I just came across this blog post. It may be helpful! http://www.change-diapers.com/2010/10/mailbox-mondays-101810.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+FittedsAndPocketsAndSnappisOhMy+%28Fitteds+and+pockets+and+snappis%2C+oh+my!%29
One recommendation I've read is a super absorbent fitted with a doubler under a wool cover.
I'm surprised that so many CDing people do disposibles at night!
Yeah, we've had similar troubles with leaking at night. I think some babies are just really heavy night wetters maybe? We didn't used to have trouble, but around... maybe 6/7 months we started to have nighttime leaks, and I've tried LOTS of doublers (hemp included). I've never tried a wool cover, though... we gave up and now use disposables at night, too. I keep meaning to look into another option (like wool or more hemp inserts), but I haven't had the time yet! So Cassie, if you find something that works, KUP!!
So glad to know its not just us having these issues! Right now we are just using the disposables. It has been easier for DH and Simon hasn't been waking up like he was before hand. I have looked at a couple of other things just not really had the time to get to deep. Or the want to spend major bucks as for the most part our CD's work wonderful.
We use disposables at night too... Not because he was leaking through, but because he kept getting this rash type thing on his penis when we were using cloth at night. He would wake up in the middle of the night clutching at himself and crying "peepee, owww", and his diaper would be really wet. Once we went back to using disposables at night, that cleared up and hasn't been back. I want to do cloth at night, but it's not really worth it to me to experiment with it while he's waking up in the middle of the night in pain.
tad seems to do well with a fitted diaper with two inserts/doublers/liners/whatever you want to call them (i have the motherease ones) and a waterproof cover.
