Sandy- We have lucked out with sleep issues, but William was not much for going to bed early and sleeping late. He still doesn't sleep past 6:30. People thought we were crazy because we didn't put William down before 9:00 when he was 6months to about a year, but then he would be up at night. After we pushed his bedtime later he didn't get up at night and slept until 6ish. He used to take 2 or 3 naps at day. Now he sleeps 7:30-6/6:30 with maybe one nap of 90 min. That nap is usually in the car on the way to the sitter around 1PM. He always wakes up crabby until he gets a diaper change and milk. It's like adults needing coffee before functioning :) You've got to do what's best for your ramily.
Ella- I know how it is when DH is working many hours. DH was working 60-80 hours/Mon-Sun from Feb to June of this year. I was lucky to see him and William probably saw him about 20 min/day. It's great to have family close by to help out even just to visit for dinner.
Erica- The schools near me don't use grades for K-2. They get N, D, P or needs improvement, developing, proficient. It kind of gives you an idea of where your child is, but since there aren't standards or strands on the report cards it is very difficult to know what they are struggling with specifically within each subject. I hope Jonah's days get better!!
Ash -- I can just imagine Teddy with the cereal. I totally empathize with the throwing out the window comment...in jest of course! :)
Elyse -- I like the N,D,P system. That sounds perfect. I just know that regular grades don't really illustrate what is going on in a little guy's head.
Name/SO: Mari/Mati Little Ones and ages: Federico, 21 months, and baby#2, 16w. What is your family up to? NOt much really. For some reason we've been really busy with ordinary life lately... chores, paperwork and stuff. As a family, we are trying to help Fede understand that he is getting a new brother or sister soon, and also hopefully watching for some signs that he is ready to
Peter is considerably younger than David, but he doesn't sleep nearly that much at night. At the earliest, I can get him asleep by 8, but he'll be up between 6 and 6:30. He fell asleep one night at 6:15 right after we got home. He was up and ready to play at 4am. And since we still co-sleep, that means he was climbing all over me and hitting me in the face. He takes a decent two hour nap around lunchtime, and then a 45 minute nap or so around 6pm. I would love to drop that nap and move up bedtime, but that just doesn't work for him right now.
Yesterday morning, they told me Peter will be moving to the toddler room not this Monday, but next. That's well and good, but I can't send breast milk with him to that room, because of "sanitation" issues. I'm still pumping 3x a day, and was planning to wean down over the next couple months. It takes me a good two weeks to drop a pump or I start leaking everywhere.
So now not only do I have to figure out what to do with the 10oz of milk I'm getting a day, I have to up him from 4oz of cows milk to 12 in the next 1.5 weeks. He got 8oz yesterday and woke me up because he was laying flat on his back, throwing up. If it happens again tonight, I'm telling them to find a different solution.
What drives me crazy is that they say they can't store it, and that all the kids get milk in cups they provide so that if a kid grabs another's cup and drinks from it, it isn't that big a deal. I don't care what the substance is; watch Peter so he isn't drinking after someone else! I asked what they do for kids who can't have whole milk, and they provide soy and have those kids sit separately. I just don't see why he can't do that. He tries to steal food from others anyway, so that would be the best option. AND I don't want him to have any juice, so how will they make sure he doesn't grab someone's cup?
Grr. DH's solution is to have MIL babysit. Yeah, that's not going to happen unless there's an emergency!
Alyssa- I hope the birthday dinner goes great! We did a medium sized party for Fede and it was nonsense! We (the adults) had fun, but halfway through it Fede and all the other guests under 2 were asleep in the beds!! Cassie- You new job sounds awesome!!! Morgan- The first "fall" is always so scary!! I'm glad both your kids are doing so well! Katie- Sorry that Z's dad is still being an a$$!!! If it helps... Today I was reading Steve Jobs bio, and apparently he was a lousy father at the beginning and then "grew up" and became a real father for

I am super excited about it. We have all our lights picked out and some other things (carpeting, tile etc), so now it's just getting it started.
Gabby is growing up so fast. She can now she where her belly is when you ask her. This evening I asked her (and signed) if she wanted Milk and she hopped up so fast and came almost running towards me. My mom was giving her flowers off of her Climatis plant and Gabby kept trying to put the plants back on the plant. It was pretty cute. She is mimicking us so much. I can't even believe it. She is stil sleeping through the night!!! from 6:45 or so until 5:30 every night! I can't believe it.
Thats about all that's going on with us. Looking forward to Halloween.
