Yep...you can start immediately. My birth books even suggested doing them in the hospital after birth. I didn't feel like I was actually doing them correctly in the first days after birth, but shortly after I could do them.
It is going really well!
The epi healed really fast, and it doesn't bother me at all, I've also had no problems with BM, which is a nice surprise, since last time I had pain and hemorrhoids for at least 4 months.
My only complain are the lochia (sp?)... I'm almost sure that last time it lasted only 3 weeks, but I still have some discharge... only a little, but enough to still need to use a pantyliner or something.

Btw, how did your thyroid test go this week??
I remember being terrified to go #2 after delivery but it was easier than I feared. I think I had lochia for a good month or so afterwards though so what you're experiencing sounds totally normal to me.
