How much expressed milk does your baby drink? I'm leaving David with DH and MIL tomorrow to go to a ballgame with my Dad, and I have no idea how much milk he'll need. So far I have 6 oz pumped (which looks like so much to me) but I'm guessing he'll need more than that. Maybe 8 or 10 oz? I will be gone for probably 5 or 6 hours. If I nurse him right before I leave, and right when I get home, he might only drink 1 bottle while I'm gone, but I think he might eat more when he's missing me, so maybe 2 bottles? Does that seem right? How much do your babies eat in one feeding? David is almost 6 months and about 15 lbs. I don't want to leave too much because it's kind of a huge pain for me to express it, and also I don't want to go to all that trouble and have it wasted. Since I so rarely pump and he so rarely gets a bottle, I really have no idea how much he typically eats in a feeding. (does 3 oz sound right?) He also is eating some solids. Ok, that was kind of rambley, anyway, any help would be appreciated.

The rough rule of thumb is an ounce an hour, and smaller bottles work better than larger. Peter is pretty much taking 3 4.5oz bottles in 12 hours at daycare now, and occasionally a 2oz. I would think leaving a 3-4oz bottle and maybe a couple smaller ones would be fine.

Sounds about right. Theodore is 4 months, and 14.5 lbs. (no solids), he typically takes 3 to 4 oz per feeding from DH while I am in the office, sometimes 2oz, but that's when he's cluster feeding.

At six months, Evan was eating about 4oz of BM 6 times a day. So, 3-4oz per meal sounds about right!
