Put your baby on a leash?

Question to all my fellow mums...

Have you or would you put your baby in a harness with reins for outside walks?

I've been thinking about this lately - while Teddy absolutely enjoys going out for a walk, he doesn't like to be told where to go (i.e. when I take him by the hands he bats it out of the way and just bumbles off to wherever he wants to go). Of course I can always just pick him up but I thought it would be nicer if he can walk and I just guide him in some way.

Now some people think reins for babies are awful and degrading and you shouldn't be lazy and rather teach your child to stay with you... well, that's the stuff I've heard so far! Are there any other reasons why those harnesses aren't good?

Or, on the other side, is there anyone who has used them and thinks they're great?

Look forward to hearing some opinions! :-)

Don't worry you aren't always on the short end of the stick Anna! The carseat we bought was over 80 euros more expensive here in Germany as compared to the UK- and due to some stupid German law I wasn't allowed to order it in the UK and have it shipped to us (as even with shipping it was much cheaper)- even though it is the exact same car seat, following all the EU laws!
