I know we are still a few months from Button being here and even farther from actually needing child care when I go back to work. However, DH was trying to plan his class schedule the other night and it go me thinking about child care

You might be able to find one or two college students that would be able to work with that schedule. If you had someone with a MWF schedule and another with a T TH schedule that would be happy to help with your schedule.

We are on the new GI bill. DH switched this semester so we are getting the BAH. He started his time Aug 2003 and is currently reservist. along with 30 months in Iraq so we got that one covered.

I'm just trying to find something that is a good balance. We can pay more for child care I just don't want to pay full price when we will only need a couple hours a day only a couple days a week.

I think a small in home daycare would be best

Did your DH qualify for the new 911 GI Bill? I'm only asking bc that can help, they give you E5 BAH with dependents while in school.... I am taking advantage once we get settled in the usa. He had to have served a certain amount of time after 911...

Thanks Brita. There for a long while there we of those kinds of posting on craigslist but I have not seen any latly. They do have a list at the college so I might have to look into that next semester. Considering I won't go back to work till April sometime (fingers crossed) it will be rather late in the year. With DH needing an internship things will possibly change when summer comes.

Cassie-

I don't have personal experience with this, but I do have a good friend who is a nurse and works 3 days/week (those crazy superlong days) and some weeks it's three weekdays and some weeks it's only one weekday. She has had excellent luck having SAHMs watch her daughter at their homes (the first lady was homeschooling and her current sitter has two younger children) I bet there are SAHM and older "grandmas" out there who would love the extra income - I know I would.

Have you tried looking at craigslist? Our local listing has tons of moms wanting to watch children in their homes for a little extra income (and those that aren't running actual home daycares seem very flexible on how often you need them). Also consider checking with your husband's school to see whether they have a database of interested sitters or will post jobs. I found my sitter (college student) by posting a childcare request through the financial aid office at a local college.

Cassie, i think it's a bit complicated but not impossible. Maybe an older woman is your best bet, or a really responsible girl in her late teens. Those are the age groups that I think could have more time flexibility. You just could clarify beforehand that you will be planning the schedule once a week or once every two weeks. Personally, I wouldn't have a problem with that.
