Shopping Cart Covers

I bought a shopping cart cover from Meijer and I hate it. It's an off brand. I went to use it at Sam's and does not fit. I was thinking of getting the bright starts on they have at babies r us and Target and wondering if anyone knows if that one would fit at Sam's. They probably all fit normal carts but I know Sam's has the big ones. I just left him in his infant seat but soon we're going to have to buy a new car seat and have to put him in the shopping cart so I need to find something fairly soon. Plus I'm sick and tired of carrying him in his infant seat as he's 16 lbs already.

Does Sam's have those double wide seats? (We don't have Sam's here.) DS's seat cover never fit any of the carts at Cosco's or BJs, and we had a nice really big all around one.

yes that is what they have. I found one that was recommended on my other boards that fits. It's a shopping cart cover by Boppy. I bid on it on ebay for $5.00. Everywhere else I can't find it. Even Amazon it's out of stock so hopefully I win it. If not I will get the bright start one from Target and hope for the best. I am taking this one back.

I'm guessing the kind of cover you have has the elastic all around to fit on the cart? The one I have (got it from a garage sale, I think it's Infantino brand) has no elastic. It just kind of drapes over the seat area, and it doesn't matter how wide or narrow the cart is. Which means that baby can still touch the metal of the cart on either side of him. I got mine more for entertainment value than germ shielding though, because it has toys attached to it for baby to play with. I know what you mean though, the cart cover is the next step when you're tired of lugging baby around in the infant seat when they get too heavy.

Er, so a shopping cart cover is something you put on the seat in a trolly, so baby doesn't touch the seat?!?!

Sorry, but has

We put James straight in the cart too Ella... I think people use thecovers because they're worried about germs on the surfaces of the shopping cart. I usually try to wipe down the handle and stuff, but I don't mess with a shopping cart cover.

It does sound silly, huh? I used mine for a couple months with DS then I think I just ditched it because it was too much work. Although this past winter when there was the whole H1N1 craze, I was wiping the cart down every time we went into a store, for DS's sake and for my pg self.

Anna we bought one for Desmond, remembered to use it once and decided it was a waste. We just put both Desmond and Eloise straight into the cart and have since after our first attempt with the cover when Desmond was 5ish months old. They really don't make much of a difference, though I can see why people who don't like germs like them.

Yeah I don't plan on getting one, I guess, but they are pretty cute. I almost exclusively shop at a local food coop, though, and it is very community-oriented--for some reason I don't feel as weirded out by the idea of putting the baby in one of their carts as the ones at S+S where they are in and out of the can and bottle return and all kinds of weird people and snotty nosed kids are using them.
