Honestly, if he really isn't interested, I'd drop it for a while and try again in a week or two. We did BLW with Katy and she showed basically zero interest in any of the food we put in front of her until he was about 10 or 11 months, then she started eating everything in sight! Some people thought it was a bit odd that she wasn't eating solids but I knew she'd eat when she was ready - and she did! I think I got a bit stressed about it on occasion, but she was thriving on BM so I didn't worry too much.
All Maxim really needs right now is BM, so there is really no problem if he doesn't 'get' solids right away. Just do what feels right for you and your baby!
Evan was not into solids at all for a long time-we also started at 6 months (EBF before then) and he really didn't start eating solids well until maybe 12 months.
Barrett liked playing with solids (he'd even try to feed himself with a spoon - that was a hilarious mess) when he was around 6-7 months, but he didn't eat much except baby food bananas before he was about 8 months.
Pablum is a baby cereal up here in Canada... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pablum Everybody up here yaps about pablum like its gold or something, haha. It sounds really bland and gross and when I've seen pics of babies (under 6 months) eating it, they look very unimpressed, haha.
He sounds EXACTLY like what Fede did... It was so frustrating for me!!
Now, looking back, I think I was pushing too hard, too soon. I'd say you can keep trying new stuff, maybe once a day, see if he likes somehting, then you can work with that as a "frame" and work from there. For example, Fede hated most solids, but he seemed to love a kind of corn cereal we have here, so I cooked it with BM, and added some mashed bananas for a sweet meal, or cooked it with regular milk and added cheese for a "salty" one. Also I made a home made vegetable broth, with the veggies processed in the water and cooked the cereal with it (so he would get some vegetables, and such.....
Another thing that really worked of us once he was 7 months or so, was fedding him while we (the grownups) had our meals. It seemed to REALLY get him iterested in solids. Also, eat some of the food yourself and show him with your expressions how yummy it is, that usually did the trick for me.
But the most important thing is that if his weight is good, you shouldn't stress about it, it will only make things worse.
Oh! And to those that are annoying about it, let them try to feed Maxim once... that's what I did with MIL and she dropped the subject! ;)
Thank you for the sig Mary

There is no rush.

Ruby, 6 months is the earliest that babies are interested in food--plenty of babies just plain aren't interested until 8 or 9 months.
Also, what's pablum?
