To swaddle or not Swaddle?

We have been swaddling Gabby for almost the entire time. She goes to sleep every once in awhile without it. Usually though during the day on the weekends if I don't swaddle her and put her down for a nap she only sleeps for about 45 min. Yesterday in her swing no swaddle I got almost 2 hours. It's getting harder to keep her in the Velcro swaddle blanket we have. And we are only swaddling her upper body. I was looking at getting a convertible woombie to transition her easier but don't know if it's worth the 30 bucks. But I am really not sure how to transition her otherwise? I am off in a week and thinking it might be a good time to try it. Thoughts? Suggestions??

If you loose swaddle/wrap her for a few months, you can get away from swaddling completely. This month, Maxim wants to roll over on his side and sleep which he cant do when he is swaddled on the bottom. So now I'm just layering the A and A blanket with his heavier blanket. Seems to be working so far. And BTW, sometimes it just doesnt matter what you do blankets wise, if she wont nap for very long, maybe she wont nap for long. Trust me, it sucks but I've let go fighting him....his naps arent predictable and some days are good, some days arent so good if his naps are short but I've tried everything under the sun to get him to nap longer. So dont get discouraged if you think that not swaddling is causing her nap problems, it probably isnt and its just how she naps.
I might try to just not swaddle her and put her in a sleep sack and see how that goes...I mean I only have her arms swaddle now, so I can't imagine that it would be a big step up to just go without it and maybe put an open weave blanket on her??
but then I was just thinking that she sleeps the longest in her swing, and her legs are confined from the tray on the swing so maybe I should be swaddling her legs and maybe that would help her sleep longer...Oh man! So much to think about.
We swaddled Evan (arms and legs) until it didn't seem to help anymore-which I think was around 4 months old.
Thank you for the sig Mary
Thanks Ladies...I think I might just try the sleep sack - I think my mom was going to get her some for christmas anyway and see how it works. I am going to talk to Daycare tomorrow when I drop her off and see how she is doing with sleeping there.Oops, I just realized that I forgot to send her Kiddopatumus (sp?) swaddle thing we had left there with her this morning, so I guess I will find out how she napped today.
