I just wanted to thank all of you ladies for all these tips. DH and I are planning a trip out to DC in the spring and I never thought to rent things. We are going to see if we can borrow stuff from his cousin that is out there. She has a 3 YO and a 6 month old. so they have a few things. All depends on if my SIL, BIL and niece come with, but either way it's all great information :)

Hi Jess!

I would highly recommend renting or borrowing any baby equipment you can! We didn't bring a car seat either because the limo co provided one for us (for the same price as a taxi) and my aunt doesn't drive so I knew we would be taking public transit everywhere. It was hard enough getting through the airport with a baby and all our carry ons so I couldn't imagine having to lug a car seat or stroller too. We ended up being switched to a different carrier on our way home because our first flight was going to be delayed so we were going to miss our second flight. We ended up having to go through customs and security like 3 times and had to literally run from gate to gate. Having Selin in the Ergo made the running around a lot easier.

Also, if Gabby is at all congested the week of your flight, have your ped check her out. I brought Selin in two days before we left because her and i had colds off and on and our ped suggested to give her 1/4 tsp of Childrens Benadryl 20 min before we got on the plane. I believed this really helped her sleep on our flights going there but it didn't work on the way back, lol.

My DH is from Izmir. We fly direct to Istanbul then have to take another plane to Izmir so it is a long haul. I have never been to Kudadasi but I have heard good things. I'm glad you guys enjoyed your trip! I've only been once, for my BILs wedding in 2006 but I found the people to be very hospitable as well and the food - Omg, relish!! :-)
