Ella, Desmond was still nursing to sleep when I moved him into his own bed. He was sleeping through the night most nights as well, since we didn't move him until he night weaned. That being said, he was also older since he didn't transition till somewhere between 15 and 18 months. That being said, he did wake up in the middle of the night on occasion after transferring and it wasn't much of an issue. Co-sleeping worked for us when he started crawling and walking though it never woke him to run into one of us, he only tended to wake when he needed to eat.
Since DH is not in the King Bed most nights, Eloise has a ton of room to move as well, she tends to like to curl up right next to me, but she doesn't wake herself up rolling or moving either, so that hasn't been a major issue with us and the decision to move her to her own bed. The main factor for moving her is that she is less likely to wake up and try to nurse if I am not there and DH, Desmond or no one is there instead. I am really ready for her to night wean though, it isn't even the waking in the middle of the night, it is the constant nursing, that I need a break from for at least a good 8 to 10 hour stretch.
James grew!! Of course it's probably mostly my imagination/my poor ability to measure, but James woke up from a nap today and I could swear he looked bigger so I decided to measure and weigh him. He weighed 20.2 lbs (up from 19.4 a few days ago) and was almost an inch higher than the last mark I had made on the wall for his height. (maybe a week ago) Yay! Small victories... Anyway I have his 12 month appointment on Monday so I'm hoping it goes well and their scale shows progress as well.
He also got new teeth. He seems to be teething in a funny pattern, he got the bottom middle two teeth at 9 months, and then today I noticed he has his bottom left tooth as well. (next to the two middle ones) And then up on top I can see the two lateral incisors about to poke through (not the top middle ones, but the top side ones) He still doesn't have the top middle ones, so I'm sure it will look a little funny. Anyway, he doesn't seem to mind the teething at all, so that's a huge blessing!
I had to share because I knew you ladies would understand my excitement over these trivial things. :-)
I've noticed that too, all of a sudden Ray will look taller.
Last night we were at the ped's office (getting checked for strep, thankfully he just had a virus) and he weighs 62 lbs. That's the average weight of a 9 year old!!!! (He's also the same height as the average 9yo.) Glad I had him weighed, I had been giving him too little Tynenol.
Grace, yay for James gaining some and for getting some new teeth (in a non painful way even!). Teddy started to get lots of new teeth after he turned one, too.
Kate, I can't even imagine Teddy being 62lbs one day, LOL!
AFM I just realised I haven't update you in ages. Well, Teddy had his paediatrician appointment two weeks ago. Turns out he is perfectly healthy and just doesn't *want* to eat, so the ped said I'll have to teach him that eating food is something normal that people do; and just generally be really patient with him and slowly introduce him to new foods and textures (basically start from scratch). On one hand I was relieved that there's no physical reason for his bad eating, but on the other hand I'm a bit bummed as I still have to face the struggles with him 3 x a day. What really surprised me though, at the beginning of the appt he was weighed and measured and he was
Teddy is way to cute. I love the first picture of him w/ the hose. I'm glad to here there is nothing physically wrong w/ him in regards to eating, but I do wish you all the best in introducing new foods to him, etc.
Good luck w/ the house and everything.
Sarah - thanks for sharing your experiences, it is sooo nice to come here and have people understand and have advice about sleeping, esp co-sleeping. It is so taboo sometimes that I get tired of and annoyed at peoples' constant negative reactions. I'm just doing what I have to do and what feels right for my family!!! *deep breath* LOL.
Mari - LOL, I'm no genius, but thanks! :) It's just a guess... I noticed the other night when I gave Eliza a lot more room in the bed (DH was gone), she slept a lot better. Although, she was also sleeping on her back (she has been a tummy sleeper up until now), so that may have been more comfortable for her? I don't know. I hope you and DH (and Fede!) work something out so that he can sleep in the PNP -- you must be so squished in a double bed! I am feeling squished and we have a queen!
Kate - I just saw in the TTC thread that you got a BFP!!! Congratulations!!! Wow, a honeymoon baby??!! How exciting. Sending you SBVs!!!
Grace - Wow, James sure is growing! He must have gone through a big growth spurt, huh? That is great news, it's always good to see our babies grow :) Can't wait to hear how his 12 month appointment goes.
Anna - I just adore those photos of Teddy. He looks like such a sweet little boy. And I love the one of him in the pool with the other baby who is crying - ha! GL with the house, I hope the owner is willing to sell, and at a good price. Good plan to save money, too -- wow, it sounds like without DH's new car you will save a LOT per month! Is he upset that he has to sell it? I'll have my fingers crossed for you that he gets back onboard the TTC train soon, you sound so sad to be in limbo :( I'm sorry you're finding it so hard, I totally understand though!
