Okay, this is not totally done yet, but
Adrienne - you rock!
And in other news, Barrett has started putting together a few two words phrases/sentences here and there. of course they are only about the cat (duke gone, duke bye-bye, etc.) His first word was cat - it's pretty obvious how DH and I compare to the cat :) Umm.. and he's walking but still chooses to crawl sometimes because it is just faster. And always chooses to hold my hand if I'm around, but as a friend said, that's because he wants me to come along - not because he needs the help walking
I'm watching my friend's two kids tomorrow - ages 9 months and 2.5 years along with Barrett - please say a little prayer for me! I'm just hoping I can get Barrett and the baby down for their naps at about the same time so that I can at least clean the dishes from breakfast!
Good luck today w/ the sitting. I hope it goes well.
That's so great that's he's starting to string words together. I love how he loves animals.
If it's any consolation, Ray's first word was BATH.
Speaking of Ray, my boy started 1st grade yesterday!!!! He'll be going into 8th grade when the new baby is born. How did that happen?
Here's a pic from his first day.
Thanks Kate! Right now I'm off the hook for babysitting - the father's truck brokedown so he's at home with his kids waiting for it to get fixed. ALthough he did say if it (i.e. watching his two kids) got to be too much he'd give me a call! Hee hee! Men are so funny sometimes.
Ray looks so grown up in that picture! I think first grade is a great age. The kids are still young and sweet and goofy but are really becoming capable of so many things. Enjoy!
Brita ~ that is too funny about the Dad saying that. Classic.
Adrienne ~ yes, he had a great day. School always starts out good for Ray... by winter time the wheels are following off. But we have high hopes for the year, his teacher is DH's 2nd cousin.
Thought I'd post a quick little update on Elena before I head to bed! She is 15 months old now (gasp) and is walking like a champ. It's hard to believe she only started a month ago. She walks backwards (and often does so quite on purpose) and is almost running. She rarely loses her balance now unless she actually trips on something. LOL. She is eating everything in sight and loves to eat what we are eating. I technically could give up on the baby food altogether but it is just so ridiculously convenient and DH and I eat so much processed crap most of the time I don't even want to be giving her our food. Maybe this will be my incentive to start eating better myself. :) She's still not talking but I'm still not too worried about that. Her comprehension is fantastic - she points to, looks at, or goes to get her ball, the cat, the fan, her sippy cup, and several other things when asked. She's even started pulling out her change mat when I say "I think somebody's stinky!" LOL. She loves trying to mimic sounds we make but doesn't seem interested in mimicking words. She doesn't go back to the doctor until 18 months so I'll probably wait until then to say anything about it. She HAS used words in the past they've just been in fleeting stages. *shrug*
Hope all the other WTTG kids and toddlers are doing well!
Desmond started preschool last week and he is having a lot of fun there. He goes three days a week, though due to Jewish holidays, it is a Jewish preschool, this is the only week in September he will actually go all 3 days. DH drops him off in the mornings for before preschool care, the preschool also has a full daycare so they offer before preschool care from 7am till preschool starts at 9:15. It is really nice since it means Eloise and I get to sleep in and don't have to drive him there and then back home twice a day.
He is not overly happy when he leaves in the morning, but he is okay once he gets there and DH hasn't had much trouble leaving him. He is always thrilled to see me and Eloise in the afternoon when we pick him up. He comes over and gives me a hug and tells me, "Mom you came back!" in such a happy tone, like we were abandoning him forever at preschool, but then we decided not too.
Eloise started gymnastics on Wednesday last week and she loves it. She is the youngest in the class, the class is for 18 months through 3 years old, but she has fun. She still can't jump, but I wasn't really expecting it yet, she'll get there soon enough. She loves rolling and playing and bouncing on the trampoline. Desmond is also enjoying his gymnastics class which is on Saturdays for 3 and 4 year olds.
Eloise turned 18 months yesterday and I totally forgot about it till today. Oops! not that we really would have done anything anyways. But I now have an 18 month old and an almost 3 1/2 year old. She is talking a ton and putting together a lot of two word phrases. I am thinking about seriously starting to potty train her when I have energy again once I hit the second trimester. It would be nice to have someone out of diapers and she is interested and takes off her diaper when she pees now, if we don't make sure she is wearing pants and sometimes even then.
We went to the local RenFest last weekend and both Eloise and Desmond rode the ponies they had there. Desmond really liked them and Eloise loved them, she chanted "horse, horse, horse, horse" her entire two rides while she was on the pony. She wants a pony now, we told her our yard isn't big enough.
Eloise is spending 2 or so Fridays a month at my in-laws all day so Desmond and I have Mommy and Desmond time those days. He is spending one Friday a month there. It is nice to only have one child all day. She is doing great at my in-laws and has a lot of fun there, she apparently doesn't even look for Desmond that often when she is there.
I am almost in my second trimester of pregnancy, 12 weeks today! Wow that flew. No morning sickness so far. We've told Desmond and Eloise that they are going to have another sibling, but neither of them seems to care yet, which is probably good, considering small children's concepts of time. I am hoping the exhaustion ends soon, it has been getting better so hopefully it will go away soon. We still haven't told anyone in real life, neither my family or DH's. We need to tell DH's parents soon since they are talking about going to India for 4 weeks from mid March to mid April and well that is when I am due and we were planning to use them for child care. Fortunately we have backup people we can use if they do decide to go anyways, but we figure they will probably put off the trip. We need to tell them soon before they book tickets though. We may tell them this weekend. We will probably tell my parents when we go to Sesame Place with them over the weekend of the 25th. I haven't decided yet though. It is probably time though.
Not much else going on with my 2 little terrors right now though. I am going to need to work on getting Eloise to nap without falling asleep on my back though, because that isn't going to work when new baby shows up. I will probably wait till after Thanksgiving to work on it though.
Yep that is fine with me!! Maybe we'll try again in 6 months or something when a lot more of the other threads' babies are older.
