Thanks for setting this up Adrienne!
We have news - Elena is walking! Well sort of. LOL. For the last several days she has been taking just one step unsupported, then yesterday she took 3 little half steps all on her own. Then today, she took like 4 or 5 steps before falling on her bum. LOL! She looks all stiff and wooden still but I'm so proud of her. :)
So BTDTs, how long before she is actually walking across the room now? LOL.
Kelly: Congrats on having a walker! As for walking across the room it can happen anytime from now to 2 months from now. Probably sooner rather then later though. And then comes the running!
Not much to report here. No new milestones or anything and it has been a quiet at home week here. Desmond goes back for his last week of camp next week and then he is off till preschool starts in September.
Eloise has taken to saying "Mouse, Mouse" when she wants to watch Mickey Mouse clubhouse. She also will bring me a fresh diaper to put on her and if she notices Desmond without one on she will bring me one for him as well. She also saying a very forlorn "Des" when she looks around for him and he isn't there.
Desmond is not potty training still. I would really like him trained before newbie arrives, but who knows. I am hoping that preschool will help. We also got a packet from birth to 5 to fill out for him. His articulation is a bit behind and looking at the materials they gave in addition to all the forms, he is missing 2 letter sounds he should have g and k. I need to fill out the forms and turn them in so we can arrange a meeting for them to evaluate him. I am hoping he is delayed enough that he makes their cut off. If he doesn't we're going to look into private speech therapy, since I do want to get this corrected sooner rather then later. I don't have any concerns other then his articulation, but I do want to deal with it, since DH and I finally decided to do something about it.
Wow this thread is slooooow!
Now seems as good a time as ever for a quick update on Barrett. Last week we (Barrett, me, a friend & her two year old) stayed at the beach with my ILs and went to a week of swim lessons in the morning. Barrett was very clingy the first day; he's very slow to warm up to new situations and people although he loves the water. By the end of the week he was splashing and trying to blow bubbles so it was a very successful week.
He had his 15 month appt yesterday, and the poor kid is apparently destined to be a shortie :D He's dropped in height and weight percentiles (10-25th in both now, he started at 75th), but the dr said it's probably just his genetic potential showing through. DH is 5'9" and I'm 5'2" on a tall day.
He is very slowly improving on walking but is still very cautious. He's had a couple evenings where he has gone on walking crazes - and will walk back and forth between me and someone else for a long time, but most of the time he wants to hold my finger to walk. He occasionally will take a couple steps between objects, but very rarely does he do more. His record so far is about 10 consecutive steps.
The dr went over some other milestones since Barrett is a little delayed on the walking, but he seems to be doing great otherwise. In the last couple weeks his vocabulary has really started increasing - foods, animals, and people seem to be his favorite words. We call DH's "Grandpa Bob" but Barrett can't get all the sounds quite right so it sounds like "bahpa bahb" when says it - super cute!
Sorry I haven't posted in so long! Elena is going through a phase where every time I start typing she comes over and tries to
Well, I haven't updated in a while. Just been busy. Kaeden is a busy little guy, always moving and shaking. We have started potty training. :) It is tentative at best, but he will go potty every morning when he first wakes up, and after naps. I'm not pushing too hard, since it is rediculously early, but I figure he will eventually get the hang of it.
AFM, Dh and I just had a discussion about having another little one. Our original plan was to start TTC in July of 2011, which would put the younger two 3 years about, give or take. Now, he is saying that we should put it off for a while until we are a bit better off financially. We have a lot of bills that really need to get paid, and he is right, but it still broke my heart a little to hear him say it. I have always wanted my children spaced 3 years apart. Obviously that didn't happen after my first, but I thought it would work this time. I'm not getting any younger and neither is he, so we really shouldn't put it off too long.
Brita: This thread is really slow. I think part of it is that there just aren't huge daily or even weekly changes once a baby hits the toddler years.
I am glad Barrett is walking, even if it is cautiously. Eloise was cautious at first as well. I also love words that the little ones try to pronounce and can't so make up their own word/pronunciation for. My Dad ended up as Pom or Pompom because Desmond couldn't pronounce Grandpa for the longest time.
Kelly: Desmond still likes to bang on my keyboard when I am on the computer, but at least at 3 he is able to be distracted. Glad to hear that Elena is doing so well with her walking. They are so cute when they first start to run, at least until they figure out they are faster then you are!
I won't worry to much about the no real words yet. I think that at 15 months they are suppose to have around 3 to 5 words.
Jan: Great to see you hear. Kaeden sounds like he is doing great. We are also sort of potty training Eloise, I figure if Desmond won't train at least I will have one that is! She loves sitting on the potty and will go pee and poop on it occasionally.
I am sorry that your DH wants to delay your TTCing. It is nice to do so when you don't have major debts, or so I've heard, this newbie is coming about a year before we planned on it, and we were also delaying because of debt. On the plus side since it is number 3 in 4 years I really don't need anything but a new car seat for them. Though I will admit a new car would be nice too, but that isn't going to happen until 2012 or so. It is going to be a bit cramped in my car for that first year.
Heather: I hope Gideon and Ezekiel are doing well. I really don't know if preschool will motivated Desmond or not, nothing else has, and we've tried everything. Oh well he is unlikely to go to college in a diaper.
As for us, not too much going on. Desmond is getting really good at the XBOX 360, he can play quite a bit of the Toy Story game now without help. Which is kind of nice since it means I don't need to play. We still haven't filled out his speech stuff, but I am planning on doing it in the car while we are driving tomorrow and Friday.
We are headed down to Georgia tomorrow. We are driving down. My brother's wedding is on Saturday and both Desmond and I are in it. I am hoping he is willing to walk down the aisle without too much trouble. My in-laws were actually invited as well and are coming so they are staying with us in a rented 3 room cottage, which will be nice since they can help out with Eloise and Desmond as needed.
I am hoping the drive isn't too bad, we have it split across two days and we rented a minivan which will be nice. All that extra space! We won't be able to make our normal first stop though, since my Grandmother is going to the wedding we can't stop at her house on our way down. Her house is about 3 hours from ours so it is a great stopping point and we can let the small ones run around for an hour or two while visiting normally. Oh well, I think she'll be home when we come back. I am hoping that I don't need to stop too often to pee, since every stop adds at least 30 minutes to our trip, since both small ones want out. Fortunately both of them are fairly good travelers as long as we stop every 2 to 4 hours to let them run out some of their energy. We will probably drive 7 or 8 hours tomorrow and then the last 3 hours or so on Friday.
The wedding should be a lot of fun. I am hoping no one guessing I am pregnant while we are there. I am figuring they probably won't, since at worst they will think I am gaining weight again. I have gained a bit, but not enough to really look pregnant yet.
