Too much weight gain?

I just took Avery in for her 4 month doctor's visit (4 months and 1 week today). The doctor was a little concerned about her weight gain and it just has me feeling terrible! She's 18 pounds and 25 inches long. (Her birth weight was 5 lbs, 15 oz at 35 weeks.) She jumped from the 75th percentile at 2 months to over 95th...She's exclusively breastfed and I've never worried about over or under feeding her until now. She's still up several times a night, and the doctor recommended putting some rice cereal in bottles to help her go longer stretches. I don't really feel that's necessary nor do I want the hassle of bottles. I've always felt confident that I'm doing the right thing and that she's been gaining beautifully but now I feel like I'm doing something wrong. Any words of wisdom? (And yes, I need to update my sig!)

As long as she seems happy and doesn't have stomach issues (lots of throwing up, etc) then of course she is doing perfectly fine and you absolutely aren't overfeeding her- which isn't even really possible when you EBF.

Erin - the others have said it all already, but yeah, a BF'ed baby can't be overweight/overfed.

BF babies do not follow the growth charts which were modeled after FF babies.

Erin, clearly that sounds ridiculous. Clearly, I also have no idea what I'm talking about.

Jessica: Yeah, I've recently started just comforting her sometimes in the night and not always feeding her. That in itself may slow her gain down a bit because she wakes up a LOT!

Sarah: I was wondering who Sophie was! :) Very weird. And yes, that did make me feel better!

Thanks everyone for weighing in (haha). I knew I came to the right place. I'll continue trusting my instincts! She's super happy and developing great, so I won't worry about one or two pounds. :)

Erm yeah, and I have no clue how or why ivillage had me signed in as a different person. That was just weird. The above post by sophied10, was really by me. No clue how that happened.

Thank you for the sig Mary
