Hi everyone!

Lucy will be 6 weeks old on Wednesday and things are going great! We're pretty sleepy...but other than that, doing good.

She's still nursing really well. About every 2.5-3 hours during the day and about 4-5 hours at night. Last week she slept 7-8 hours at a time for about 5 days. I was in heaven!! But this week it was back to normal.

We've been out of town with her several times already. DH was gone for a week, so we drove to my Moms about 5 hours away. She does pretty good in the car--cries for the first 5 minutes in her seat and then she's out.

I'm feeling good. My incision healed very nicely and I feel "normal" again. Still a little sad about the c-section since it was so different from what we wanted. My doula and I talked a lot about it, and it seems like there were several "circumstantial" obstacles that really worked against my plan for a natural birth. *Being more than an hour from the hospital. *Being 10 days overdue. *Having gestational diabetes (and on insulin) etc..Hopefully, I won't have to deal with any of those next time. And, really, the c-section wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. My doctor was also VERY sweet and really helped to make it a good experience. They put her on my chest before we left the operating room and she never left my sight after that. My doula met me in recovery to help her latch on...They really tried to honor all parts of my birth plan that they still could. They did a double-layer suture and say that I'm a good candidate for VBAC.

For now I'm just loving my sweet girl and focusing on getting healthy before the next baby (in hopes that I'll side step the gestational diabetes). I've lost all my pregnancy weight (only 13 lbs) and am down another 6 pounds! Doing Weight Watchers to continue losing.

Heather, it's so good to hear from you and see new pictures of your girl. She is just a sweetie - so so so cute, and what beautiful pictures. I'm glad you are feeling better about how the birth went and that you are a good candidate for a VBAC next time around. And WOW - WTG on the weight loss! YAY for BFing! :)

Heather, she is BEAUTIFUL!! What a good combo of you and DH! I love that pic of her with the open-mouthed smile . . . awwww!!

I'm glad you guys are doing well and adjusting to Mom and Dad-dom!

And I think it's good that you are talking with your midwife and working through your disappointment about the c/s. I think Jen's recent birth is a great reminder that sometimes we can give them as much time as we want and try EVERYTHING, and they just need to come out via c/s, KWIM?

(((HUGS))) I'm glad that they were so good about honoring your birth plan anyway--it sounds like you had a really nice doctor. :-)

Yay for the weight loss and a good chance to go for a VBAC! She is gorgeous and so wide awake! Great job with the nursing and awesome for sleeping so long. Just be careful with that because Jensen would sleep 9 hours a night and I wouldn't wake him to eat because the first and only time I did it he choked and clogged his nose with milk and couldn't breathe and I had to suction his nose, and then his nose started bleeding, so I was very traumatized about that, but had I known it would make my supply be really low I would have made myself get up and pump so while sleep is great, if you see an decline this early due to sleeping too much you might want to think about pumping to help. If you have an electric one you could probably set an alarm and try to sleep through it.
