So sorry about having to deal with the elevated billi levels AND the whole maternity leave thing. I hope after the bit of a rocky start things get smoother!

Wow, sorry about all the drama Kate. Theodore is so, so cute, I love the picture of him with Ray. It muse be so fun to see them together.

Definitely have you're good cry, you'll feel better after, and it's good to remind yourself it's mostly baby blues, which will pass, and then you'll feel a whole lot better. I got the baby blues with both boys, and felt like my world was crashing down, but it always went away in a few days. I hope you guys can start to settle into a normal life now that you're home and everything. (((hugs)))

Kate,

It's so great to hear from you! I was just thinking of you earlier this evening and wondering how things were going with Theodore.

Ugh about the nurses! I wish they were more knowledgeable about BFing. We were just talking about this in my LLL group and were saying how great it would be if they would pass out the name of a local LLL group who could come to the hospital and give some REAL nursing help! Glad to hear they finally let you guys do the bili stuff at home.

As for mixing days and nights, I was always told to keep the room bright during the day and dark at night. He'll get it figured out soon. :-)

I so feel your pain on the ST disability

Hugs Kate! Sorry you are feeling the blues but the other factors I'm sure are at play! :-( The pictures are great. I think the second one he really looks like you! Ray looks so proud too! Hope things continue to get better for you all!

Congrats again Kate! He's cute! And I think he and Ray look alike! I'm sorry about all the mat leave issues, that is really crappy that they would misrepresent it in the handbook - I hope it gets figured out for you.

The baby blues are so normal, I definitely got them when we got home from the hospital. I felt like a new woman on Day 12, so hopefully it passes for you quickly. Hang in there, we all know how you are feeling!!

Enjoy that sweet little man!

Kate - Thanks for the update. Glad he is doing better and you guys are getting settled at home. How frustrating with all the doctors visits and being in the hospital so soon after leaving. But like I said glad you are all better!

As for the work situation! Sucky!!! That should have been in the handbook, if it wasn't I would say they should have to pay you. I feel your pain. while I was out on Maternity leave (we had the 60% pay for 6 weeks, while the first week was PTO) and I paid extra to get that bumped up to 80% and I banked all the PTO I could so that after my 6 weeks was up I could take another 3 to 4 weeks. Well then I found out when my 3 weeks was almost up and I went back part time, that the previous 3 weeks was not paid because I didn't fill out one single form. really? I mean seriously, one form....so needless to say had I know about that I could have made sure to fill it out. and shouldn't the HR Person have known to ask me about it? what's the point of having someone in HR help you with that. Just like your person in HR should have actually looked up the policy.

I am sure it will all get worked out, but I can see how emotional it would be (I was there). HUGS!!!

Theodore is ADORABLE!!! and Ray looks so proud! Are you going to call him Teddy as a NN?
