Would love feedback from the BTDTs on the following...
1) After nursing, once baby falls asleep, how long do you wait before putting them in their bed?
If I put Selin in her crib right away, she wakes up crying within 10 minutes but then falls asleep as soon as I pick her up. I've finally realized the longer I wait to put her back in her crib, the better but when it's the middle of the night and I want to get back to sleep, I don't feel like sitting up for 30 min. waiting for her to get in a deep sleep! I've tried rubbing her back and shushing her from afar but the only thing that seems to work is waiting at least 15 min. before setting her back in her crib.
2) Any tips for running errands with baby?
I am now afraid to go out to a public place alone with Selin because she either screams in the car or screams once we get to the store. I make sure to feed and change her before we leave the house but inevitably, she either gets hungry or soils her diaper by the time we reach our destination. DH and I went grocery shopping last weekend and she started screaming after we were in the store only a few minutes. I finally had to take her out of her car seat and hold her against my chest. She fell asleep right away. We promptly went to BRU after that and bought a Chicco carrier but I've only used it in the house so far. Sometimes she likes it and sometimes she doesn't. I feel like it's still too big for her, even though I've adjusted all of the straps, etc. We're not using paci's and haven't introduced a bottle yet (see #4) so I don't have any tricks to use when she starts screaming in public.
3) How to politely tell your MIL to stop hovering over you while nursing?
When we are at her house and I need to nurse, she lets me use her bedroom but she checks on me like every 5 minutes and if the baby gets really fussy, she comes running to the room asking what's wrong. I told DH I don't appreciate her hovering over me and that I prefer privacy when nursing.
4) If you pumped so your DH could do some feedings, when did you introduce the bottle?
