Vitamin D Warning for BF Babies

Have you heard that the American Academy of Pediatrics has recommended that breastfed babies get a Vitamin D supplement?

When James was younger (before he was eating sufficient dairy/spending time in the sun) I would give him these vitamin D drops:

It doesn't have a dropper the bottle is like an essential oil bottle where one drop at a time comes out. I would just put one drop on his pacifier or on my nipple and that is a days dose of vitamin D. Very hard to mess up!

These articles are trying to make it sound like Vit D deficiency in women is uncommon, but from what I understand from my doctor(s), up to 80% of women could be deficient in Vit D (that might just be here in CT at the 42 Latitude), but I can see, based on this, why doctors might recommend a Vit D supplement for babies!
However I think it seems just as reasonable for the Mom to take a supplement and the baby to get it that way--taking a good dose of Vit D and C every day was highly recommended to me by my Chiropractor and I felt like my immune system was amazing after I started doing that, so I'll probably go back to it once the baby is born and hopefully they will be fine because of that.
