Weaning and IBS

Hey ladies - I really need some input from you on this!
I was diagnosed with IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) a couple years ago. For those of you not familiar with this (TMI alert), basically I get gas pains/cramps, diarhea and constipation - rarely do I have normal bowel movements. However, I started taking medication for it and it helped things considerably. Once I got pregnant I had to go off of it. Luckily, my IBS symptoms basically disappeared during pregnancy and even after.
Until now that is :( I have been slowly weaning off the pump, and this week I have weaned down to one pump a day. Now my IBS symptoms seem to be back full force and it's awful.
Now this is where I am stuck. I was hoping to stay at one pump for at least the next month or longer to continue giving Evan breast milk. BUT, I can't take the medication. So, do I suck it up and feel awful for the next month or so, or do I give up pumping sooner?
Help! What would you do?
