Weekend naps, or lack thereof!

For the past few months, Selin has been fighting her naps at home on the weekend. She naps beautifully at the sitter every day, for a good 1.5-2 hours, but no matter what I try at home, it's a struggle.

She will usually fall asleep while I'm nursing/rocking her, same routine we do at bedtime, but as soon as I put her in her crib, or sometimes 30 min or less later, she wakes up screaming.

I've tried putting her down at the exact same time as her naptime at the sitter, a little earlier, and a little later. I've tried making her room darker. I've tried tiring her out in the morning. Nothing seems to work.

My DH is working on the weekends as well lately so I'm often home alone with her for a good portion of the day. When she doesn't nap that means I don't get a break until my DH gets home, which sometimes isn't until late afternoon and by then I'm exhausted!

She has also pretty much stopped napping at my parents house but that one I'm not as concerned about.

Anyone else experienced this? Another mom I know with a DD just two months older than Selin said her daughter only naps about 5 days of the week so I'm wondering if this is just a normal progression? But then why would she continue to nap so well at the sitter? Help!

Ella, I laughed out loud at your toothbrushing omission. Totally awesome. Makes me feel better about realizing it's been 4 days since the girls had a bath. Lol.

Christine- I think you've found the issue- sleeping in on the weekends messes up my girls naps for sure. I know they're a lot younger, but that makes a ton of sense to me. I'm sure being at home with mom is more worth staying up for too. ;)

Aww thanks Ella! I still can't believe she's turning two in just under a month!

Andi - yep, no doubt she loves the extra mommy time. She nursed a lot more when I was home on break too. :-)

I know I am late to the party on this one, but I want to Thank all of you. WE are going through this and it totally helps to not think I am the only one that has this issue. this last weekend, Gabby didn't nap until 3pm and then only on me and I think only because she was SO SO tired. and then Sunday, no nap at all. We usually nurse her to sleep and then put her in her crib and I can always tell when she isn't going to go down and sure enough she wakes up SCREAMING after like 2 minutes. Sometimes I don't even make it to the end of the hallway. and then we let her CIO for 10 minutes, go back put her down, repeat..and Sunday we did that and after 30 minutes of crying I Nursed her for another 20 or so and then she just went back to crying, so i thought I would try to have her sleep on me, but no such luck. I don't understand how she can sleep from 6:30 to 5:30 and then go back to bed until 7 with no nursing session but during the day she wants to nurse from me all the time and refuses to nap!

Finally got David to nap this weekend. But he will only nap in our bed and I lay down with him and in 15 minutes he was out. But he naps. Whatever works I am not going to question it.
