I have a question for the working moms on the board:

Do you worry about missing your children’s important milestones because of work?

I made it clear in the very beginning that I would tell them when we saw a milestone, and that I didn't want them to mention it until I did. This way, I always saw the "first" anything, even if it really wasn't.

I did worry about this, I got really lucky with my DS as he did a lot of first for me, or at least every let me think he did. in a even if someone gets to see it first there is always the first time for you so it still a first with you and you baby.

We were worried about this when Evan started daycare, but so far it hasn't been an issue. He is much more comfortable trying new things at home, so he tends to be a bit ahead at home when compared to at daycare. That being said, he did stand on his own for the first time at daycare, but it didn't bother us. Now I keep asking them everyday if he's walked yet, because I just want him to do it and I don't care WHERE it happens! LOL!

I missed a few - the first time she rolled over, the first time she said bye...but like the others said it didn't really matter to me. I was just super excited that she did those things in the first place. and she has done plenty of stuff on her own in front of us first. THe ladies at daycare always told us when she did something, but like the others said it was the first time for us, so it didn't really matter.

I was fortunate to be on maternity leave for about 5.5 months with Selin so I was able to be there for a lot of her "firsts" as an infant. DH and I both got to witness her first steps right after her 1st birthday, which was totally cool and special.

Like the other ladies said, the first time it happens for you is just as good as the first time it happened at all. :-)
