Since we have a pictures thread, I thought it would be nice to have a video thread as well. Plus I needed some place to put my newest video of Elena. :)

One of her newest things (started about 3 weeks ago) is "chatting". She does it sometimes for several minutes at a time. It's so cute!

Awww, these videos are all so cute!

On the sitting/rolling discussion, Elena isn't really doing either yet. She really tries to roll when she's on her tummy, she just hasn't quite gotten it yet. She's been showing signs of rolling onto her side from her back for awhile now though, and yesterday she did it! A little bit more oomph and she would have rolled right onto her tummy. As for sitting, she's nowhere near ready for that yet. I should probably be putting her in her Bumbo more often, or as Grace said, just trying to make her sit on her own. Although, of course, there's no hurry.

Lorien for tripod sitting I just sat Eloise up one day and she could do it, we didn't practice it at all. I was just curious and there she was sitting! Not sure if it was a one day couldn't next day could thing since as I said, we didn't really practice it. I have noticed though that a lot of skills seem to just pop up over night, like hands and knees crawling, Thursday Eloise wasn't doing it, Friday she was an expert in it!

Thanks Lorien, It's good to know that Patrick didn't roll until 4.5 months. James just turned four months today, so there is still hope!!

Regarding the tripod sitting, I just sit him up in front of me all the time, and he's gotten progressively better at it. Sometimes I sit him up in the middle of the bed, and let him fall down so he can get the hang of what happens when he doesn't support himself. The bed is soft enough that it's a nice cushy landing when he falls. All that being said while he is capable of sitting on his own, he often chooses not to, so I have to keep a close eye on his or he goes tumbling.

He rolled over for the first time when no one was looking at 4.5 months. Then he did it again two days later when we weren't looking, then it ramped up from there. For the first week he always had his arm stuck underneath him, then he started getting it out with some struggle. All in all it was two weeks from first roll to having the hang of rolling over without pinning his arm. He really went quickly from nothing to rolling over *all the time* (and then fussing b/c he doesn't like being on him tummy). I guess for the month before he did sort of lift his legs up and get on his side. But I was still surprised when he started rolling.

Now he seems just as far from tripod sitting. Did that start suddenly? Did you just sit him up supporting him and then he got the hang of it? I worry we don't have him sitting enough for him to get the chance to learn to do it on his own. Maybe we should practice more :)

Lorien, he totally said "hi!" :-) So cute! I love that sleepsuit with the bear on the bottom btw! Teddy only rolled over his left shoulder to start with too, maybe that's the easier way?

Grace, Teddy started rolling front to back quite early (13w), also back to side, but the full back to front only at 19 weeks. It took him a couple of weeks to do it in both directions, but then he could move about rolling (back to front, to back, to front etc).
That being said I wouldn't worry about him rolling, one of my friend's babies still isn't rolling at over 7months, but she's sitting up like a pro (which again, another baby from our group still can't do at 7 months). Just goes to show they're all different!

Nice rolling Patrick!!

How long has he been doing that?? James still hasn't figured it out yet... He can tripod sit, but he can't roll over.

Just took this video of Patrick because he was being so cute and laughing. The nearly-discernable "hi" was totally unexpected and new! Then I tried to get him to demonstrate his rolling over skillz, but the confined space tripped him up some. He's been going nuts rolling over on the floor (back to front, and to his left only) for the past two weeks. Like the bear on his bum!?! Ahh, sleep n' plays, God's gift to the overwhelmed mother.

These are great videos! Good idea, Kelly! :-)

Grace, had to smile as there are so many things around James in his Bumbo. Teddy would knock them all over!

I've also got a new video - well, a few weeks old. Here's Teddy saying "da da da da" until he topples over with the box he's leaning on and I have to rescue him! (don't know how to edit videos, otherwise I'd have cut the end bit off, ha ha).
