Okay I am not sure how to put the tickers in the post, but since it is now April, I figured we should start a new thread.

Ash, what an interesting concept, this "separate covers" thing!!:)
By the way, be patient, the jaundice will go away evetually, and he will sleep for longer periods... You know? I think the first 4 weeks are so hard, everything is so new! But you'll see, after that, everything gets so much better! Hang in there!

So just got back from my honeymoon! It was a lot of fun but I missed Jensen like CRAZY!! Pictures are on my baby blog if anyone is interested. It's mylifeasmom1910.blogspot.com

We went to Lincoln City on the Oregon coast and stayed in this awesome beach front hotel. They own several hotels and this one specializes in romance so no kids under 12 could go so we only went for one night and Jensen stayed with my mom. It was my first night away form him so needless to say, I didn't sleep much. He just turned 3 months on the 9th so it felt kinda early, but I am glad I went. The weather was awesome for us and we had a great time. Our room had a jaccuzzi tub in front of a window facing the beach and we sat in the tub watching the sunset over the ocean and it was gorgeous. We went out to dinner after that and I got all dressed up and it was just such a nice time for us. I want to do it again but I think I'm gonna have to take Jensen with me next time lol!

Well last night was fun Theodor slept 2 hours altogether, and about 5 hours during the day. We're calling his doctor on Monday, as I can deal with 90 minute stretches of sleep with 10-20 minute breaks but not 90 minutes over the course of 8 hours. The worst part is that his sleep is getting worse not better.

We're thinking about giving him away to the circus- the amazing never sleeping baby :D :D

Elyse- William sounds like he is doing so great!! I'm so glad you updated us:) I can just picture him rolling across the room.

Amy- I'm glad you had a nice honeymoon!

Brita- Barrett sounds so cute with the sippy cup:)Can you believe he is almost a year?!

Sarah- Congrats on your sister! There will probably also be a new addition around Christmas time here but it is still too early to tell:) It will be so fun for Desmond and Eloise to have a relative close in age!

Christine- Wow that sounds like a great night of sleep! I don't think you are a bad mom for the car seat thing- what are you supposed to do, besides talk to her and let her know you are there?

My midwife was here today and it looks like he has acid reflux problems. He is in pain when he farts, poos, etc and that is why he is waking himself up constantly- as he also feels pain when he eats.

She of course said we just have to wait till he hits 3 months and then everything should be working well but me crazy person that I am not being able to accept going the next 10 weeks with 2-4 hours of sleep in a day will be calling the pediatrician tomorrow.

I totally love the natural approach but honestly I think some people on kellymom, etc are crazy. There is no way I could deal with getting so little sleep for such a long time if I don't have to and if there is any medicine that can help you can bet I will get it- I mean a newborn Teddy's age should be sleeping about 18 hours altogether and he is getting close to 6 basically- which can't be healthy for him at all!

I am so hoping that having such a difficult start means he will be a perfect toddler- a girl's gotta hope LOL!

Ash, sorry he isn't sleeping. We dealt with Eloise's acid reflux by me cutting out all milk. Milk and Soy tend to be the two biggest contributors to it, though sometimes it is neither. Her screaming, gassiness, unhappiness improved so much when I was off milk. It does take about 10 days for all the milk to be out of your system, but we noticed a marked improvement by 5 days or so.

That being said our next step would have been to use acid reflux medicine, which is available to infants in the US with a prescription. You may want to ask your pediatrician about it, no clue if they use them in Germany or not. We had asked about them at her 1 month appointment, but she wasn't as bad as Theodor, so we decided to wait and see how she did once I was off milk. Honestly I am not sure that the 3 month mark would have helped much with Eloise's if I was still on milk. She was a lot happier even with me drinking milk at 6 months, but at 3 months if I ended up with something with milk she was still unhappy.

Good luck, I hope he starts feeling better soon.

Ash, I think you are doing the right thing about calling the Dr. With Fede we were crazy about his colics, it was so hard, because he would cry all day long!! Add to that the trauma of his NICU experiences, and the poor guy was seriously stressed out!
I tried Paracetamol drops whenever he showed signs of severe gass pains, and it totally worked, he slept better and for longer periods, and we were happier parents!
So if there is anything for acid reflux, I'd say... "go for it"!!!

I agree about cutting out milk. I would also cut out any leafy greens. Gripe water worked awesome for us and my niece (who actually had colic, not reflux) but it helps eliminate the gas which can help. I have heard from some people it doesn't work for them but it worked great for Jensen's upset tummy until we were able to find a formula he did well on.

I'm willing to try cutting out milk, but my midwife and a doctor at the hospital said what I eat has a really small influence on the baby so I am not sure if it is worth it. We're making an appt with an osteopath in addition to the pediatrician so we'll see if any of it helps.

Thankfully other then that we are doing well, he nurses so often and so well that I think he is probably back to his birth weight now- my midwife was kind of in shock at how much and how well he nurses considering just a week ago he was so lazy due to being at the hospital. It is nice to have one thing go well and "be easy" LOL :D

He also took a bath with DH yesterday and it totally reminded me of the birth and having him on my stomach for the first time-I can't believe he is already 2 weeks old (sniff sniff).
