Almost had to deliver

Hi ladies,

Sorry I haven't been around much. We had a very scary week. Last weekend, I hadn't been sleeping well, maybe 5 broken hours total each night. I was having preterm labor symptoms on Sunday morning, but they went away with my 17P shot and anti-contraction meds so I thought I was in the clear. Then I didn't get more than 4 hours of sleep Sunday night.

Monday morning (32w3d) around 10am, I went to the bathroom and was bleeding a lot, like dripping blood in the toilet kind of bleeding. I put on a big pad and DH took me straight to the hospital. I cried all the way there thinking we were going to lose her. When I got there, they did an internal exam and I was still closed and firm. They hooked me up to a monitor and LO's heartrate was doing fine, but I was contracting. They did a bed side u/s that showed baby was fine, placenta was still working, and my cervix wasn't dilating but it was significantly shorter than the u/s from 6 days earlier. They prepped me for what could happen in the next 24 hours. They told me if I had a significant gush of blood that they would have to take the baby out by emergency c-section. They said if I continued to contract and the meds I was on couldn't control them, they'd have to put me on magnesium drip. Either way, they wanted to admit me until the bleeding stopped.

Before I got to be admitted, the contractions started to pick up to about every 2-3 minutes. They gave me a shot of terbutaline and luckily that slowed them down. They got my room ready and I was transferred over. They had a NICU specialist come talk to me about how "32 weekers" do in their recovery and that was kind of scary. They continued to monitor me overnight and luckily the bleeding stopped and my contractions were intermittent. They did a follow-up u/s on Tuesday and my cervix was longer again. They let me come home on Tuesday night but I am on even stricter bed rest. Yes that's possible. I can't get out of bed except to shower every other day and go potty.

So basically, if I make it to 34 weeks (8 days away), they won't threaten the mag anymore. If I make it to 35 weeks (15 days), it's possible that they might not even stop my labor. I am really trying to be optimistic but I had a bad night sleep again last night and I just have a feeling that I won't make it to 34 weeks. My intuition has been pretty spot on this pregnancy, so I'm bummed that I feel this way. We're just taking it one day at a time.

Sorry that got so long, if you made it this far! Send some P&PTs to us that we at least can make it to April 8th.

Thinking of you guys, Katie! I had been lurking on the May EC board and had seen that someone posted there. I am glad that they were able to delay labor again, at least for now. Hoping for at least April 8 for you and your little one!

Oh no, Katie! I'm sending you lots of positive thoughts that you'll make it to at least 35 weeks, if not much longer. The "good" thing is that your baby will most likely do just fine no matter when she is born. (((hugs))) to you.
