How many weeks are you? 13

Any exciting dates/appointments this month? Just a standard appointment and pap this month. I guess I'll be scheduling an u/s then too. Who knows?

For those of use that are getting close:

Have you had any "progress" in regards to effacement/dilation?

Do you feel like you will go early or late?

How are you feeling physically?

How are you feeling emotionally about labor and delivery?

For those who have a bit longer to go:

What's on your to-do list to get ready for baby this month? We need to work on a fense for the dog and finish our kitchen...trying to get big projects out of the way early this time. ;)

How are you feeling? I don't feel sick all the time now, though I'm still throwing up. I can deal like this, though.

Do you know the gender yet? Nope, and we won't find out.

If you don't know are you thinking

Ruth: I just wanted to comment on your note about your crooked spine and not being able to get the epidural in correctly. I don't have any back or spinal issues and with my first they had a very hard time getting the epi in. They tried several times before they got it in, and then when they got it in it was very ineffective because it was in wrong. That being said and having had a completely natural birth with DS2 I can say the epi relieved some pressure but not all of it; but it certainly was not "pain free" as I have heard some epi experiences described. With DS2 I was told that if I tried for an epi (not that there was time, he was born in triage at the hospital) that I would most likely have an experience like my first because my back was "not favorable" to it.

I am not trying to scare you or pressure you into trying for a natural birth if you so don't choose, but I wanted to share my experience and encourage you to make sure, if you do go that route, that you get one of their better trained anesthesiologist.

And remember there are pain medication options between natural drug-free child birth and epi.

Ruth: I had to come out of seclusion and second what Kate said about the EPI. I don't have experience with an EPI as I didn't get one but I can tell you that Natural births are doable. Granted my labor was only 12 hours long total so if it's longer I might have changed my mind but something that my boss told me that really got me through my labor was "Once you think you can't do it anymore you are almost there".

Everytime I couldn't think I could do it and I wanted to get an epidural my MW and DH reminded me of that and I went a little longer. There was a time about an hour before pushing started that I needed something. so they gave me two doses of Fentantyl (Sp??) it was enough to get me sleeping a bit and relaxing in between the contractions. I stopped focussing and stopped breathing through. Then I pushed and she was out in like 20 minutes :) Again not swaying you either way, but the EPI actually freaked me out (I hate needles) more than labor did.

and I agree with Kate if you do get an EPI just make sure you get the best guy :)

Name/SO Name: Ash

How many weeks are you? Just about 20

Any exciting dates/appointments this month? Nope, but I am happy to hit the halfway point.

For those who have a bit longer to go:

What's on your to-do list to get ready for baby this month? Nothing specific, since it is another boy we really don't need any new clothes, although I will still buy a few things.

How are you feeling? Pretty good. My skin has been drier then usual but really nothing to complain about.

Do you know the gender yet? Yep another boy!
