Well the short version anyways and a picture.
I went into work on Friday with mild discomfort and just figured it'd pass like any other discomfort. I planned to stay all day, but left at 2 when I was truly uncomfortable. As I left, I called the doctor and went in for a 'labor check.' I was only 3 cm at 3:30 so I got to go home and call if/when things got worse. Hahaha...I was only home for 45 min. We got to the hospital at a little after 5 for another 'labor check.' I didn't even get checked before being admitted because I was in such pain. Back labor sucks big time ;( The pain was so unbearable that when I was asked about pain meds, I requested immediately. The nurse called the doctor to find out if I could get the epidural at only 3 cm- she approved and figured that with as thinned out as I was, it wouldn't take long for me to relax with the epidural and dilate the rest of the way. I got my epi and the nurse said she'd be back in about an hour to check on me. In the meantime, my pain disappeared, but the pressure was intense. The doctor came in to check me and I was at 10cm, 100%, and +2. I went from 3-10 cm after the epidural in a little more than an hour, pushed for 3 contractions and he was here.
The doctor could not believe I had gone into work for the day and made it as long as I did.
