Failed my 3 Hour GTT

So I had my 3Hour GTT yesterday and they didn't give me the results right away so I called this morning and then 5 minutes ago I got a call. and I knew when it was one of the midwifes calling me back that I was in trouble. She started to talk about the test and just came out that I failed. I had an 84 fasting (Great!) then I had a 167 (Great) - it's supposed to be under 180. 2 hour was a 171 (Not good at all) - Supposed to be under 155 and my 3 hour was a 164 and it's supposed to be under 140....So there it is....

They are sending my paperwork over to a nutritionist and she will be getting in touch with me next week. They are faxing the prescription over to the pharmacy, so I will pick up the supplies and start tomorrow or later tonight (probably tomorrow) with testing.

I am totally bummed, I am hoping I can control it and the little one doesn't get too big and I can still have my water birth, but I am not holding out as much hope for that anymore...

Please don't get too discouraged.

Jess--

It's good that they caught it. Don't get too caught up in worrying about the size of the baby or anything. This just means that she'll have a greater chance of baking longer. :)

As an example, my mom had undiagnosed GD when pg with me. I was 23 days early, 8#2oz, and 22 inches. She had me completely naturally. You're going to be fine!

Thanks Ladies! I know you are right, I think I was just in shock that I actually failed it. I really thought that I wouldn't have since I was only 6 points above my 1 hour....oh well now I just have to eat better which is better for me in the long run anyway!

I'm sure you'll be able to manage it - it seems very common on my board and most of the ladies are delivering healthy sized babies. I guess now you'll have a reason to be healthy and not over-eat (like I did!).

Hugs,
Dee
