First Trimester Chat August
49

Here is the place to talk about things specifically related to the first trimester:)

There is still going to be a general pregnancy chat so no one should feel left out or anything like that- just thought this would help with the huge amount of posts in one thread, which can be overwhelming.

Suzie - I feel just as passionate as you do about the uniforms. It think it does take the focus on who has the latest thing and back on education. Whether my kids like it or not they will be wearing uniforms. When I was younger I felt horrible because my mother didn't get me all the name brand stuff and you get teased and picked on for that. I believe most of the schools here in Texas have uniforms even High School.

I believe the 2T begins around 13 weeks because next week I will be in my second trimester.

I like school uniforms but only for grade school. I had them up till 7th grade but after that we were free to choose our own clothes- which I think is important too. It allows pre-teens and teens the possibility to work on who they are and think about self image. However I also went to a private school where no one would even think about mocking labels or something like that- most of the very wealthy students wore old t-shirts, clothes from thrift shops, or whatever they liked- I really enjoyed it :)

You aren't really in the second trimester until the begining of week 14. The reason for this is the 40 week calender that we use. Since you aren't really pregnant the first two weeks which are counted (starting from AF or 2 weeks before O) the first trimester goes till the beginning of week 14. The 2nd trimester is from week 14 to the end of the 26th week and the

However I wouldn't wait to tell people until week 14 if your only reason for doing it was m/c worries

Oddly enough, its not this I am worried about!

That makes sense to me Suzie! However I have found that if people have something stupid to say- they will say it no matter when you tell them...

OMG on the when to tell topic. Y'all would die if you knew how fast I let the cat out of the bag. Of course my family knew right at 5 weeks. But as for school, I had told a few here and there, but at lunch last week, one girl that I told started talking about it without realizing that it was a secret. So pretty much my whole faculty knows now.

Then today, a student asked me about it b/c she said she overheard "some 9th graders" saying that "Mrs. D was thinking about having a baby" OMG...seriously? Don't these kids have anything better to talk about....like each other?? I just brushed off the question, but I'm sure more and more will start asking me about it.

In other news, the Swine Flu has officially hit my school. Today about 25% of our students were at home sick :( I'm a little worried about getting it, but kind of feel like it's inevitable...I'm trying my best to wash/germ-x my hands 1,000 times a day. I called my doctor yesterday, and he suggested that we (another teacher is pg, too) wear masks and just call him with the first sign of symptoms. I don't know about the whole mask thing. I think that would make it impossible to teach. I'd feel ridiculous, ya know? Maybe if everyone was wearing them...

OK..sorry for the long post!

Take Care!

Heather - Don't feel bad about telling so soon. I told my co-worker really early and my sisters and mother (my mother then told anyone who said hi to her) so basically everyone found out sooner than I wanted to tell them. Well not everyone I did wait until 8 weeks to tell my boss and her boss. I really wanted to wait until I was 12 weeks along to tell them but since I started showing really early it was impossible. I am 12 weeks today and never would have been able to hid this bump.

As for the swine flu all I could think is that not only

Did anyone notice their pregnology siggy is off by one day? It says that I am 12 weeks 1 day. I noticed it on Heather's as well.

Jay - The 2nd Trimester already?! It does seem like it went fast. I'm so jealous! LOL. I have also noticed people's prenology tickers being off by a day, I wonder what that's about.

Suzie - I am planning on telling everyone around 12 weeks, it feels like a good number to me. :)

Heather - Yikes! How scary about the swine flu! And I can see how it would be tough to wear a mask in that situation! Where are you again?

AFM - I'm still here, still feeling bad. Last night I had a couple pretzels and a handful of carrots for dinner. Ugh. Today has been much better. My biggest problem is drinking, I can't find a drink I can stomach, even water! I can't do anything sweet for sure. I've been munching on some ice chips and that seems to be helping a big. I'm so thirsty and dehydrated, it's awful! I went by my new m/w's office today to get my new patient paperwork and lab slip and then did the whole urine sample/blood work stuff. So the m/w should have all my results when I go in on Tuesday so that's nice. I guess that's all for now!
