First Trimester Chat August
49
Tue, 08-18-2009 - 1:55pm

Here is the place to talk about things specifically related to the first trimester:)

There is still going to be a general pregnancy chat so no one should feel left out or anything like that- just thought this would help with the huge amount of posts in one thread, which can be overwhelming.

Ok, girls, two things popped out today.

The first was when I was doing hallway duty and I realized that a button on my shirt was undone. Awesome. So for the rest of the day I was obsessively checking all buttons on my clothing, including my pants and the buttons at the bottom of my blouse. As I was investigating a button down by my belly button, I pushed down below it, it was hard! Hey! That's not not chub OR gas! It's baby! Well, technically its my uterus, but whatever. It's progress and its totally amazing and freaky at the same time. :)

Squeeeee!

Cara - I hope your appointment went well. I am really sorry to hear that you are feeling this awful. I hope you are able to get the fluids you need and food as well. Feel better and I still have my fingers crossed that this doesn't last long for you like your previous pg's.

Thanks, Suzie. It's not as bad as it could be, with my first I didn't know about the Unisom/B6 trick and I lost 10 lbs in the first trimester! I think I've only lost a couple pounds so far this time. But to answer your question, my m/w doesn't know because I haven't had my first appt. yet. It's not until Tuesday. I'm not as worried about the eating, I get enough down and take my vitamins, I'm much more worried about the not being able to drink and becoming dehydrated.

Just wanted to pop over and say hi. For those who didn't see my U/S picture is in the general PGcy thread. The also changed my EDD to 4/1, April Fools. That makes me 9 weeks already. That is just crazy. How has everyone been feeling? I've been okay. I have my moments. It seems the M/S is lessening but I have been so irritable lately. To the point of not wanting to talk to anyone. Hopefully that will go away soon

Cara, sorry you feel crappy :( I've been really thirsty too and can imagine how hard it is to not be able to drink anything. Do you guys have a Sonic? They have the best crunchy ice! I'm in Alabama, and most schools here are having the same problem. I think it's just bad in the south right now b/c everyone just went back to school. I think it will be more widespread in September once all schools are back in session.

Jay: I definitely tell my kids about the coughing in the sleeve trick. Basically, if they even look sick, I've sent them out. Most of the ones that I've sent to the nurse have gone home with fever, so I think I'm making good calls. Even older kids are gross...I wish I could walk them all to the bathroom before lunch to make them wash their hands! I do pass around the Germ-X before we go.

AFM: Hey! I just realized that it's 7:45 and not only am I still awake...but I'm also not laying on the couch! Today is a good day. Though....does anyone ever get a little worried when they have "good" days (sorry for those who don't)...but it's still a little scary to have a "sudden loss of symptoms"...good thing I've still got the heartburn and sore nips...yup, just checked, they're def. still sore.

Jay - The 2nd Trimester already?! It does seem like it went fast. I'm so jealous! LOL. I have also noticed people's prenology tickers being off by a day, I wonder what that's about.

Suzie - I am planning on telling everyone around 12 weeks, it feels like a good number to me. :)

Heather - Yikes! How scary about the swine flu! And I can see how it would be tough to wear a mask in that situation! Where are you again?

AFM - I'm still here, still feeling bad. Last night I had a couple pretzels and a handful of carrots for dinner. Ugh. Today has been much better. My biggest problem is drinking, I can't find a drink I can stomach, even water! I can't do anything sweet for sure. I've been munching on some ice chips and that seems to be helping a big. I'm so thirsty and dehydrated, it's awful! I went by my new m/w's office today to get my new patient paperwork and lab slip and then did the whole urine sample/blood work stuff. So the m/w should have all my results when I go in on Tuesday so that's nice. I guess that's all for now!
