Dee - EDD June 6 2010 - TEAM BLUE!
Jennifer - EDD June 23 2010-TEAM PINK!
My goodness, it's so quiet for a few days and then I log on to all this good news!!
Alyssa - Sorry about your lump, that sounds awfully painful!!! I hope it goes away soon. is it a cyst, or what is it?
Kim - Yeah for the puppy! I was a bit confused when I reading it and then I realized it was a dog :) So adorable. I am assuming the bandages on the ears are for them to stick up straight. I know they do that with Dobermans, but didn't realize they did it with Great Danes too. So cute!
Devin - YEAH! On the BFP!! So exciting!!
AFM - This might be TMI, but have others that are farther along in their pregnancy had a lot of yellow discharge? I thought I remember reading it somewhere, but now I am thinking maybe it's too much. If I don't wear a pad it totally ruins my underwear and leaks through to my pants. and while it doesn't smell bad, it definitely had an odor to it. So I just don't know if this is normal or something I should call the nurse on?
Other than that the baby is moving like crazy! I saw her butt or head on the outside now and my belly is shaking all the time. It's the coolest thing ever!
This weekend DH and I are heading out of town for the week. YEAH! I love vacation. Even though I am going to be working two days up there, so I will be offline for awhile next week and back on Thursday. We come home Friday night, so it will be nice to have the weekend home and on the 19th I get my sink from my parents so I will have a "new" sink and faucet in the next couple of weeks.
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
Devin - congratulations!!! Yay!! We haven't had a new PG member in a while, so that's great! When is your due date?
Jess - the lump was an abscess. Not sure where it came from, but it had been deep under the skin for months. Not fun, but I'm hoping it will go away now!
I just read about discharge in my PG book - it says clear or white with no odor is normal (though some women have to wear pads because there is so much), but if it's yellow or green with an odor to go see a doctor. I would just keep an eye on it for a few days, and if it doesn't go away then maybe go see someone.
How cool that you can see the baby move from the outside like crazy now! Have an amazing vacation - sounds like it will be a great time!
Alyssa - the tape is because her ears were cropped and they use it to train them to stand up.
Jessica--I'm so glad that you've been able to keep your sugar pretty well in check. Your shower sounds like it was great! And boo for FB drama. Some people take it a little too seriously.
Grace--I really hope the m/s eases up for you soon. It's no fun at all!
Alyssa--I hope you can get out of any more conferences! Yuck on the bump busting, but maybe now it will go away.
Jennifer--How does it feel to be next in line?? Just a few more days!
Adrienne--How's Tonio doing? Were you able to get the feeding tube removed? And good luck with all the reorganizing. I'm still totally overwhelmed with all of our house stuff. YAY FOR FEELING KICKS!
Leona--I'm glad you're feeling better about your belly button. I've noticed that mine has a red ring around it. So weird.
Kassidy--Isn't it funny how they seem to find a place in the uterus and stay there? Woo hoo for single digit weeks left!
Kim--She's gorgeous! Seeing pictures isn't helping my puppy fever at all! ;)
Devin--Welcome to the thread, and congratulations again!!
AFM--I'm having a rough morning. Our power went out at 4:45am, and we have ONE smoke alarm that's wired to the electrical system. It beeps when the power goes out. Finally got up, broke my week-long streak of no throwing up, and peed on myself in the process. Eat breakfast while the cat throws up in the floor. Oh, and my allergies are flaring, so my left eyelid is swollen.
Complicating things, my dad just got a big promotion. It was a three-position jump, and he's now one of only two Colonels in his state agency. That's exciting! Anyway, he just moved into a separate apartment a few weeks ago, saying he needed some distance from my mom. So now things are up in the air there, and he told me that we need to have a phone discussion about it all soon. I'm avoiding his calls until DH is home with me. No way am I hearing bad news when I'm home alone.
Needless to say, I'm not having a productive morning. I brought my lunch, so after I eat I'm closing the office door and taking a nap in the floor. It won't be super comfortable, but I'll survive. Of course, this all depends on if my internal ping pong ball will take a nap with me. (Seriously, it's been two days of non-stop movement.)
Wow...I didn't mean to write a novel. And sorry that so much of it was a vent.
Kass--She DOES look a lot like Matt, it is definitely funny! But I'm sure when she's born you'll be able to see some of you in her more feminine features. Apparently when I was born the FIRST thing my Mom said when she saw me was: "OMG Buddy she looks EXACTLY like you!" (to my Dad). Heheh.
Anyway, I'm glad you have an explanation for the hip pain, I think understanding why something is happening makes it easier to take, if that makes sense. Hopefully she decides to move for the birth, LOL!
Jess--I'm not sure about your issue with your friend. Maybe she didn't mean to "ignore you" and just has other things going on in her life? I know that happens to me a lot. Honestly though if she would constantly text while you are hanging out, she isn't someone I would be concerned about staying friends with anyway, I feel like that is a real turn-off.
The discharge could be a sign of a yeast infection or something else--I would ask your midwife about it to be safe.
Alyssa--I have no idea about the job interview--it is SO strange for me how it works in Canada--here, you would NEVER interview for a job at 5 months pregnant when you would want to take 6-12 months maternity leave (I think you are only qualified to get ANY maternity leave if you've been at a company for a year), but I know it is really different there so I have NO idea! KUP though!
And WOOHOO on the kicking! It is SO awesome.
That sucks about the boil or whatever it was but I have to warn you--KEEP IT SUPER CLEAN WHILE IT IS HEALING. I had two friends (who are brothers, I guess genetics can predispose you to get it) get those things and one of them, it got infected while it was healing, and then he had to have surgery and they had to cut out a huge chunk of his butt and then it got infected AGAIN and he had to have surgery AGAIN--it was horrible. It did eventually heal but it was like a 9 month process with a lot of pain and his Dad packing the hole in his butt with gauze daily and other ridiculousness.
Anyway, he isn't the cleanest person, so I doubt you will deal with this, but I just though I would warn you--better safe than sorry, right? So, keep it clean!
Leona--I'm glad your midwife wasn't worried about your belly button. It was probably just where the baby was and now it is in a different spot so it looks normal.
Devin--OMG Congrats!! See your worry about TTCing was probably just over-emotionality from PGcy! Haha! You should post a general board announcement, I didn't even know! Yay yay I am so excited for you!!
Kim--I don't think you are crazy. Pets are really good for people--they increase serotonin, reduce blood pressure and stress, reduce the rate of heart disease, etc, etc. If you are happier having a dog than you are probably better prepared to deal with whatever life throws at you, IMO.
But hey I have five cats so clearly I'm already insane and my opinion is probably not worth much, LOL.
Liz--Thanks for asking about Tonio! We actually just got the feeding tube out today and he is definitely all better--eating a can or almost a can of food a day and I have even seen him drink water and he definitely is grooming himself because he is once again smooth and shiny. We definitely have to keep him inside for another week while the hole in his neck (from the tube) closes up, and since we are leaving on vacation in a week, he'll stay in until we get back. And hopefully at some point he will start eating hard food again too, but yeah he is pretty much better!
Wow you did NOT have a good start to your morning, holy crap!! I hope the rest of the day was all uphill!
That is awesome about your Dad's promotion but too bad about him and your Mom. I guess it doesn't sound too good--hopefully whatever happens is mutual and one person doesn't end up feeling powerless.
Good for you for taking a nap--after a morning like that you definitely need it! And don't worry about the vent, I think you probably needed that, too!
AFM--I think it's official that I have a moving baby in there. For about a week I would feel a little pop here and there and wonder if it could be a kick, but all of a sudden today he/she has been kicking up a storm! (I think, LOL). Maybe having the midwife appt yesterday helped because I got a better sense for where he/she is and so today when I was feeling it, it seemed like right where the legs could be, and since it is in the same spot and I have felt it SO many times I feel like this is really it! I am super excited about it. I have been waiting for this!!
Anyway, my midwife appt yesterday was good, like I said in my other post about it. I thought she would say I was eating too much sugar but she said my diet sheet looked great. My blood pressure is low (it always has been), which I guess she is a bit concerned about, so she told me to eat plenty of salt to help it come up a bit.
So ironically she was a huge fan of the salted chocolate that came up a lot on my diet sheet, and that was the thing I was most worried about her scolding me about! LOL!
I hope everyone else is well!
Adrienne - generally, you do have to work a year for a company to get their maternity benefit package. However, that is just a top-up for what the government gives (55% of your income), so I'd be okay with not getting it this time around. The good thing is if DH takes time off, he can use his family leave benefits!
As for the lump (it was an abscess) - I have to into either my doctor or to a clinic to get the packing & gauze changed every day. So, it will be cleaned out every day very thoroughly. It's a pain in the butt (literally, I guess! LOL!), but if it heals quickly and I don't have to deal with it anymore, I'll be super happy!
That is so very awesome that you're definitely feeling movement now! It sounds like your LO is quite active! That's great that what you were worried about on your diet sheet is exactly what your midwife likes about it! Perfect :)
AFM - I definitely need to get new bras this weekend. They are starting to dig in on the sides and it's pretty uncomfortable. I'm kind of surprised I lasted this long without having to get new ones!
Our kitchen is pretty much done! It took about 5 weeks, and we are so super happy with the results. I've posted some pictures on my Picasa site if you want to take a look:
Thank you everyone! My EDD based on first day of my last period is February 18th, however I had IUGR (Intra-Uterine Growth Restriction) with my first pregnancy and my doctor expects it with each of my pregnancies because I'm very very petite, so they'll probably move the due date farther out when they do measurements at my first u/s. With pregnancy #1 my EDD after the first u/s ended up being so that I would've gotten pregnancy after I got my BFP, lol, and she was still born early regardless,
Alyssa, the funny thing is I got asked that afternoon about when I'd be taking leave and for how long.
