Have our "final four" names!

I've been terrible at keeping up w/ the pregnancy chat thread this month, so I thought I'd start a new thread. I know I had posted that we had our final four names a while back. I *thought* we did! Then we took about a month off from talking about it and when we went back to them, we had both changed our minds about most of them! lol. So we came up with a new (much longer) list of names and had to wittle it down again.

So our plan is to go to the hospital with these four names: Eleanore, Norah, Emily, and Lucy. No matter which name we pick, her middle name will be Faye because it's my middle name and it goes with all of them. It feels really good to have that settled on at least. Now we just need to get the nursery in order!

So what do you think of our choices?

I really like them all! I love Norah especially. I am so jealous that you've got it that narrowed down :)

Good choices! I bet you feel better mow you've narrowed it down. My favourite from your list is Eleanore, though I like the others too. Emily and Lucy are crazy popular over here which is why I wouldn't use them, but I know trends are very different across the Atlantic! ;)

I haven't checked out the current popular names list to check where these all are on the US charts. I should do that. We're really trying to stay away from top 25 names. I basically am just going off of what I see people naming their kids around us. We took Charlotte off the list because we know 3 little Charlottes already. I know two Eleanores under the age of 3 too. I'm not sure if it's popular or not, but I don't want it to get that way!

Dang, Emily was #6 in 2009 and was at #1 in 2003. I don't know any under the age of 28 personally though. Lucy has been between 100-200 the last 5 years. Norah (with an h) has been at 300+ for a while and Nora (no h) is hovering around 200. Eleanor (no e) is at 200+ and Eleanore (with e) hasn't been in the top 1000 since the 1940's. Weird cause I know two Eleanores (with e).

So that might change my opinion and maybe I will have to take Emily off the list. I would be okay with having a three name list though.

As you already mentioned I think it's also very important to see what's popular in your area and demographic. For example while Arthur or Florence aren't massively popular nationwide, there's several of both at Teddy's nursery!
So while I agree that Emily's probably a bit too popular so you'd definitely come across several, for the other names it's really more how common they are in your area!

I like your name choices, my favorites are Eleanore and Norah. Both I picture cute little girls with! I know a few Lucys but only one maybe Emily? But is close to Emmy/Emma for nicknames which would get fun. LOL But great strong names!

Love 'em! Love 'em!
They are all so feminine and classic. Great choices. I might favor Norah a bit. Eleanore is sweet, too! How will you ever choose on the big day????

Thanks, ladies :) If you knew DH and I IRL, you'd know how hard it was for us to come up with such a short list of names and actually agree! It took us way longer with the twins.

Erica, I have no idea how we'll choose! All I know is that I want to be able to see her and hold her first before we decide, because I don't want to choose THE name before she's born, have her come, and then not look like that name at all.

LOVE all of those names!! The popularity thing would sway me away from Emily too (although it's always been a favorite of mine...)
