Julia´s birthstory

I went to my weekly appt. last monday, and basically complained to Dr. Uncle about all the stuff I had been whining to you… He laughed at me, and after all the routine controls told me that he thought the baby was coming "any day now".
We went to pick up Fede at my parents, and then headed home to have dinner.
At 2:30am I woke up because I needed to pee. As soon as I sat on the toilet, I felt my water breaking (you will have to admit that was convenient!). So I called Mati, and went to sit on the couch while he gathered all our bags and Fede who was completely asleep.
We left Fede at my MIL's and went to the hospital. On the way I called Dr. Uncle, who unfortunately was on call that night at another hospital, so he said to go to the hospital, labor with the m/w and that they would call him when things were closer to delivery.
Just like last time, they checked me and confirmed that my water was broken, I was dilated 3 cm,

Grr, I hate that staff for you!! How dare they make snide remarks and scold you. Give those people some customer service classes.

You did an amazing job, Mari! I'm so sad the way they treated you - you have every right to feel upset. Laboring women need to vocalize and deal with pain in many different ways! It is not something to be ashamed of. I'm so sorry they made you feel so awful. :( On a happier note, YAY to Julia being here and being healthy!!! Post some pictures, mama!!!

Christine- It was the same hospital, it was even the same m/w. I think that's what was so disappointing… she had been so nice to me last time, and I couldn't believe she practically ignored me this time. As for typical of argentinean hospitals…. I´ve heard lots of similar stories but always about public hospitals… this was a private clinic, and the attention is usually a lot better.

Congratulations, Mari! I am sorry that the staff wasn't supportive, but I am so proud of the strength you had in a less than ideal situation. I agree with the other ladies, I would have lost it on the lady that told me to be quiet! I'm glad that you are starting to feel back to normal. Your little girl is so beautiful and I am so happy for you and your family!

I love birth stories! I love when you said, "they gave us little Julia and the world was fine again." That's exactly how birth seems. Things are crazy and surreal, and then all of a sudden, the world is right and calm again. I agree with everything you said!!! Your experience sounds a lot like my first birth. I was left alone a lot, and in those moments, I was in the darkest place emotionally that I've ever been. When babies #2 and #3, my husband was better prepared to provide the support I needed.

Who tells a laboring women not to scream? I probably would have lost it... you are stronger than I am... as I screamed and yelled and moaned.

Congrats on Julia's birth. I can't wait to see pics.

That was crazy, Mari! I'm so sorry they took you away from Mati and left you laying on that table by yourself. It sounds to me like they wanted to "prove" something to you.

Anyway, congratulations! I'm so glad you have your baby girl in your arms now!

Thanks for sharing Mari.

I can't believe you made it as long as you did. You're a rock star. It's like they set you up for failure! Separating you from Mati & making you lay on your back right at the peak of the agony. I'm so sorry that it happened to you, it seems so unfair and unnecessary.

I'm so glad that you and Julia are both healthy and everything turned out ok in the end. She's absolutely beautiful. I hope your recovery is swift, sounds like the episiotomy wasn't too bad if you had to have one. Congratulations again.
