It's a tough call-if you think you'll need dress pants a lot during the pregnancy, I say buy maternity, but if you don't think you'll need them, I'd buy a pair of regular pants that you can use again afterwards.

There's always the Bella band if you need to wear dress pants every once in a while you are still pregnant-unless you are like me and grow all over:O I gain weight in my hips when PG, which made the bella band kind of useless for me (it kept rolling up to my waist), and my regular pants didn't fit anyway. In my 1st pregnancy, even though I didn't really look pregnant until 6 months, I'd been wearing maternity pants since around 9 weeks to accommodate my growing posterior!

You need one of these!!!!

I have one, and have no idea how I went through my last pregnancy without one. Oh I know... I bought a lot of stuff that only fit for a few weeks/months at a time, until about the 6th month.

With DS I developed a belly around 4 months. This time around, it happened much earlier. This band was and still is a LIFE SAVER.

I can still wear a few pair of my non-maternity with this (top button undone, this holds them up).

Without, non of my maternity pants would fit... they would all still be too loose in the belly.

I would invest the $20 in one of these and get more life our of your regular clothes. And for the conference get a pair of maternity dress slacks that you can use for the next 8 months and have this help hold them up.

I cannot tell you how much I love mine.

Hmm...that's a tough call. I think it all depends on how often you'll need to wear similar clothing. If you're in scrubs most of the time, then either just buy bigger pants OR see if you can borrow maternity pants from a friend. If you'll be needing them throughout your pregnancy, then I'd buy some.

Also, sometimes buying a bigger size of normal pants might not work - they just don't fit the same as maternity clothes. So, you might have a hard time finding something because they'll fit on the waist but be WAY too big on the butt/hips/wherever.

I didn't start wearing maternity clothes until I was into the 2T, but when I did it was AWESOME and wished I made the switch earlier! They're just so much more comfy!

I didn't get maternity pants until about 15 weeks but when I did I could have slapped myself for waiting so long because they were SOOOOOOOOOO comfy compared to my regular pants which I hadn't been able to button in weeks.

If I were you I would go ahead and get a pair for your conference. It will make it much easier to sit through a day of conference-ish stuff if you are comfy and you'll probably have cause to wear them again.
