The short version of this post is that I'm 99% positive that I've miscarried (that sounds like I've fumbled a football or something...there must be a better term out there somewhere.) this morning at the 13 week mark.

The rest of the post is really TMI, but I feel like I need to share the details and know I could never form the words, so I'm hoping that typing them will someone release them from the constant replay I'm doing in my mind.

This morning started with me sitting up and feeling two gushes.

I am so sorry that you are having to go through this. It is best for you to get an ultrasound at this point. Have you stopped bleeding and cramping? I know this question may be hard, but did you only have bleeding, or did you pass any clots/tissue? There could be several things going on. It could be a miscarriage, or it could be that you had a multiple pregnancy and lost only 1. The biggest reason an ultrasound is important is if it was a miscarriage you should get checked for retained tissue. I had a miscarriage between 11-12 weeks. Had a not had the ultrasound a few days later, I would have not know I had retained tissue and could have ended up with a horrible infection. Call your doctor's office today and see if there is somewhere other than the ER that you can get an ultrasound. If you can't get one today, then I would push to get one on Monday. I don't think there is a right or wrong answer with how or when to tell your Mom or others are well. For me I told her as soon as I saw the ultrasound that something was wrong. Even with having my husband there, for me I needed her there too. It's ok to not want to tell her or anyway else just yet either. I'm sorry that you are having to go through any of this.

Oh, no no no Leona :( I am so sorry that you are going through this right now. Nothing can describe how you are feeling, and any feelings you are having are the right ones.

I know it sounds like it's the worst thing in the world, but you really should get an u/s done as soon as you can. Like Heather said, there could be some other things going on that you will want to know about. I know it will be really hard - going to get an u/s after my m/c was incredibly difficult (be prepared for all the PG ladies that will be around). BUT, it will give you peace of mind.

About the HPTs - those will continue to be positive for days, even weeks. I had to get my blood checked twice, more than two weeks apart, to make sure my hormone levels went down back to non-pregnancy levels. My levels were still well above 10,000 the day I had my m/c, and were still in the 100's a week later. So, using and HPT won't work to prove anything to your DH.

Oh my gosh - I'm in such shock for you. I am so very sorry, and really can't imagine how upset you must be. But, please, please make an appointment to get an u/s done. Although difficult, it will help you - I promise. (((hugs)))

I am so, so sorry you're going through this. I'm glad you were able to share here. It seems to me like your midwife should be being more helpful that she's been on the medical side of things. 13 weeks of HCG would take at least a few days to clear. As Heather said, I believe you do need to get an u/s, but hopefully your midwife can set it up so you don't have to go to the ER. *hugs* You're in my thoughts are prayers.

Oh my God Leona I am so so sorry. Definitely go get an u/s to see what is going on, there is a possibility that the baby is still in there, and they will probably recommend a D+C if it is a true m/c. I will be hoping for a miracle for you--I am so so sorry.

I would also agree that if you have not passed a lot of big clots, that is a very good sign. I will have everything crossed for you that this horrible situation actually turns out okay.
