I had serious cravings for sour things during my first trimester. At one point it was fresh cucumbers in vinegar (and I would often take a little drink of the vingegar when I had finished the pickles - weird, I know!). I also went through a lemon phase, eating an average of two lemons a day and, yes, a pickle phase (a very particular kosher pickle sold at a local deli, I might add:).
I don't know that these ever did settle my stomach but, who knows, maybe my body knew what it was doing, and my stomach troubles would have been worse without all the sour/acidic foods. Interestingly enough, I was totally "off" sweet foods during the same period.
