Pinkish spotting?

I'm freaking out here a bit, girls. I just went to the bathroom and saw some EWCM type fluid mixed with blood. I called my Dr. but of course their office is closed on the weekends. What should I do? Just wait it out? Or should I go to a walk-in clinic?

If it makes you feel better, then you should go. They may not be able to tell you much but may send you to emerge for a quickie ultrasound.

I had pinkish spotting around 10 weeks after having sex. It stopped within an hour though so I figured it to be that my cervix was irritated. My doc didnt have many answers for me when I asked him about it the next day but he said that if it happened again and continued to go to emerge.

Hugs!

Hi Ruby - thanks for responding. I went to the walk-in clinic, but they basically said they couldn't do anything for me even if it was more severe. They said that it's normal (perhaps from the uterus expanding), but to go to the emergency if it's still continuing tonight.

I don't have any cramps, and it's not red. But I can't think of what might have caused it. We haven't had sex recently, and I don't recall straining myself very much (yesterday I carried a bag of groceries, and we went for a walk, but that's it really).

Anyway, I just went to the bathroom again and it's still there (pink still). Gah - I know this happens to everyone, but it's still scary :(

I had spotting on aand off throughout the entire 1st trimester, and Elena is here perfectly healthy and happy! Spotting, especially this early, is very common. My doctor said it is usually just caused by hormone surges. Try to relax and don't worry unless it turns bright red and is accompanied by cramping.

I'm sorry they werent able to do much for you other than the advice to go to emerge if it continues :(

It does happen to a lot of women and it is scary...easier said than done, but try not to worry. It is probably nothing you did at all to over-exert yourself. Noel often talks about positive thinking and I've been doing that quite a bit throughout the pregnancy, mostly with regards to the baby's health and development. Anxiety and emotions run high about all kinds of situations during pregnancy, but I still push all my positive energy to the developing baby, knowing my body is doing everything it can to nourish a healthy baby, even if other things are/have been out of my control.

Lots of hugs! I hope it stops soon!

Kelly - that is good to know that it can happen throughout the 1T. How long would your spotting last when it happened? Was it done in hours, or did it last longer?

Ruby - I'm trying so hard to stay positive, but I keep going from being relaxed to freaking out.

It was getting lighter, but the last time I went to the bathroom there was more again. It could have been because I had a BM, and I kind of had to push a bit. It's still pink, but this time there were little flecks of red in the bowl (not sure if it's just dried blood, or something else).

I still haven't anything I would describe as cramping, but I have been having kind of a "pulling" feeling, or like a gas cramp from time to time.

I'm not sure what I should do if it's still there tonight - go to the emergency? just try to sleep and hope it goes away?

Alyssa - I am just seeing this, and I am just sending you good thoughts your way...No advice, since this is also my first. I hope it goes away or you can go in and get an U/S.

Keep us updated.

alyssa - i had a little bit of spotting and light bleeding with some light cramping early on...around 6.5 weeks or so. (of course, it had started on saturday for me too.) i'd called the on-call doc when it was just spotting, and he told me that unless it got heavier/brighter (it was brownish to dark red) and i started cramping, not to worry about it. not a half hour after i got off the phone with him, i passed a large dark red clot and started light cramping, and i'd noticed the spotting had increased to light flow, so DH and i both freaked out a little and went straight to the ER. they got me in right away (apparently i was the most serious case there that afternoon), but i wound up spending about four hours there. they did an u/s (baby was measuring a day ahead at 8mm, heartbeat was visible and at a good rate), and an internal exam. everything turned out to be fine (obviously), although the ER doc was a little tactless and had lousy bedside manner. the nurses were great. one of the older ones stopped in and told me about her 5th pregnancy where she bled on and off the entire duration, and now has a healthy normal 16yo son from it ("still causes me trouble!").

if you feel uncomfortable with the situation, go to the ER. they will understand, ESPECIALLY seeing as you're a first-timer. i spotted for a full week after going to the ER, but having made that visit (and a followup with my doc that monday to confirm healthy rising betas) made me feel so much better and eased my worry a LOT. i'm sure everything is fine, but my thoughts are with you and i'm sending you all the sticky vibes i can spare!

Thanks everyone for your thoughts and comments. Here's an update:

At about 8pm last night I went to the bathroom and the blood was red (no longer pink) and heavier. Not heavy enough to accumulate, but still noticeably different than before. We were going to try and wait until this morning to go to the ER, but I was basically having a panic attack at this point so we went then.

Luckily it was a very slow night and I got in right away. They took a urine and a blood sample, and then we waited for what seemed to be an eternity. The results came back and my Beta levels are low, but still within the "normal" range. I have an appointment this afternoon the Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit, where they'll probably take some more blood and perhaps do an U/S.

DH was doing really well until we went to bed last night, and we both just kind of talked about our fears. I haven't had any severe cramping (I've had a couple small ones), and the blood flow seems to go from being very little to what I would call light-AF-like flow.

I will update this afternoon once we get back from the appointment. Please keep me, DH, and our little Baby G in your thoughts.
