Leona - Congrats on being a great aunt! That's exciting!
No brain capacity for other personals; one is my limit. :) All is well with me though. Had my 34 week appointment yesterday. My next one is in two weeks and then I'll go weekly. EEK! I can't believe it's already here! I'm really content to keep this little one cooking though, because well, I can't cook! We decided that now was the perfect time to remodel our kitchen, so we have no appliances (all are in the dining room) and the floor is completely ripped up. DH is taking off the next two days to start tiling the floors, so hopefully it'll be in much better shape by the end of the weekend. I'm surprisingly stress-free about the whole thing. :)
Kate- Yay for being 12 weeks!! I am glad that your apt went well.
Alyssa- Yay for being 24 weeks! I am nervous/excited about Friday. I just hope that everything is going well. I have no reason to think that it won't be though. I love buying books for Luke. Hopefully when he gets a little older he will enjoy them. I have been getting quite a few from a used book store near us.
Emmy- I am really curious when my EDD is as well. I am thinking somewhere around March 6th, so we will see. I am sorry that you have been dry heaving. That is no fun at all.
Leona- I am glad that the childbirth class went well. Congrats on your great nephew. I know quite a few people with that names, Cody James.
Erin- I can't believe you are almost 35 weeks now. Good luck getting the kitchen finished up.
No time for personal's now. Luke is starting to get fussy.
Leona - Congrats on becoming a Great Aunt!! so Cool.
Erin - WOW with the remodel, that's crazy...but sounds like it will be nice when it's done. I so wish we could redo ours, but it's pretty low on the list.
AFM - just got back from my 39 Week appointment. Peanut has dropped, her heart rate was good, hard to find because she was moving so much, but still got it. My MW checked my Cervix and I am about a fingertip dilated, short and getting there, but not really dilated much more than last time. So I go back next Thursday...6 days until the due date, but I doubt she is coming early.
The bummer part of my appointment is I might not be able to do my water birth. I asked my MW about the form for the waterbirth and she went through the list and one item on there is, if my BMI is 33 or over I can't do a water birth. I am at a 33.6. I gained 2lbs since last week, not sure if it's because I have an evening appt instead of a morning appt but still...so I can't sign it until I go in and then we will decide if I can do it or not. So it's not out of the question, but most likely I won't be able to. But they are still letting me go 2 weeks late so that's good. plenty of time for her to come on her own.
Emmy: throbbing pains tend to be growing pains. I've been having them since shortly after I got pregnant. They were actually one of my first symptoms. I remember then with Eloise as well. I don't remember them this early with Desmond, but I might have not be as attuned to them then.
Jessica: I never trust late term weight estimates for baby. If I went according to what it said, Desmond should have been close to 11 pounds, he was 7 pounds 14 ounces when born. Not small, but nowhere near big either.
Good luck on getting your water birth. Basing it on BMI seems really weird, but I guess that is what your practice does. I am glad the baby has dropped. Hopefully she will be here within the next week or two.
Kate: We aren't telling anyone until after my brother's wedding on the 21st, and we may wait till second trimester sometime mid September or so. I thought about waiting till after my sister had her baby at the beginning of December, but decided that might be a bit long. DH suggested just calling people after the baby was born, but again won't happen. Especially since I normally fly down to Atlanta at the beginning of February, and I am not sure we will this year due to baby. Plus I am sure everyone will be able to tell by Thanksgiving.
And congrats on hitting 12 weeks!
Devin: Glad you figured out what to do about maternity clothes. I need to figure out where all mine are hiding. Fortunately they are the right season since baby is due right when Eloise and Desmond were.
Leona: You can always labor as long as you want at home with no one around before heading to the hospital. I didn't mind having the midwife and DH around when I was in labor, I actually preferred having a lot of people around, and preferred Desmond's birth with like 6 people there to Eloise's birth with only DH most of the time and just DH and my MIL at the end. I really didn't think I would want people there, but in the end I liked the distraction and being able to talk to everyone.
Erin: Have fun remodeling your kitchen hopefully the baby won't arrive before you are done!
Cheryl: Congrats on Lucas hitting 4 months! Can't wait for you to find out your actual due date.
As for me not much going on. I am a bit less tired in the evenings, in that I haven't napped all week, though it has been tempting a few times. The small ones are watching a bit more TV then I would like, but it happens. I am waking about 2 times in the middle of the night to pee, which is too bad since no one else is, so I can't even blame it on a short one! Not much else going on. Pretty quiet on the pregnancy front.
DH and I are celebrating our 9th wedding anniversary today. My in-laws are coming over to babysit and we're going out to dinner, just the two of us, which will be nice. Other then that, I had my first I have to eat this craving last night. I wanted mashed potatoes, so we ordered out so I could get some. With Desmond my main cravings were mashed potatoes and salad. I also really wanted cake so we got some of that as well. With Eloise my main cravings were anything sweet. So I have no clue what to make of the potatoes and sweet cravings together!
Sarah – sorry you’re so exhausted and that the peeing is starting to come at night. Congrats on your 9th anniversary!!
Emmy – I haven’t looked into whether the hospitals here rent pumps. Great suggestion! Sorry about the dry heaving :( That’s no fun at all. Hopefully it doesn’t last too long.
Jess – Glad to hear the u/s went well, and that she has dropped. Too bad about the water birth, but at least it’s not totally off the table yet. This heat is killing me too. If I’m outside for more than 5 minutes I just feel queasy.
Kate – that would drive me nuts too! I hate when people leave things until the last minute (and then rely on you to do everything). Congrats on the 12 week mark!
Leona – glad the birth class went well (after the initial awkwardness anyway). It’s nice to hear that you’re feeling peaceful about the birth, and I hope you come to some sort of peace regarding the MW as well. I’m very much a “leave me alone” kind of person when I’m feeling sick, but I don’t think that will be the case with the birth. Congrats on becoming a great aunt!
Devin – it took me almost a year to knit a blanket for the baby too! I’m such a slow knitter because I only do it in short bursts of time. That’s why these squares are nice – they take about 2 hours total, so I can get them done over a few evenings in front of the TV. Too bad about the maternity clothes, but fun that you get to do some shopping :)
Erin – you’re almost there! Kudos to you guys for getting into kitchen renos right now (and for you being stress-free about it!).
Cheryl – I’m sure everything will be great tomorrow! KUP!
AFM – Evan has been very active the last few days. I can now see distinct movements from the outside, which is cool and kind of weird at the same time! LOL!
It’s getting harder and harder to find a comfortable position while sleeping. I pretty much can’t be on my back now or I can’t breathe properly, so that leaves my sides. I find my hips hurt after a while, but putting a pillow between my knees seems to help. The heat doesn’t make it any easier either :S
I finished one of the squares for Evan’s wall hanging. It should be a fairly quick project to finish the rest of the squares. I’m contemplating whether I should hang them up individually, or sew them together.
Sarah - Awesome with your 9 year anniversary. Have fun on the date!!
Alyssa - Try putting pillows behind your back to prop yourself up. that get's you off your hips a little more and really helped me. Or look into getting one of those pregnancy pillows. I didn't get one and just used a body pillow and it's really really helped since about week 20 for me :) I have one under my belly, one between my legs and then the body pillow behind my back. That way when I toss and turn I am propped up all the time. DH has gotten used to the pillows and is actually using them sometimes himself. Good Luck.
AFM - I have spent the entire morning(when I should have been working, luckily I stayed home today and am working from home) with the insurance company. They dropped the ball and didn't process 3 of my claims, so I had to get those put through. Had to get a new insurance card printed out because DH's company got bought out and as of August 5th we have new insurance - it's the same company and same coverage as we had before, but new ID #. so I have to make sure that my MW's and hospital are still covered. But we are still planning on seeing our therapist for awhile, so for a 1/2 hour I was pretty much on hold trying to figure out if our pre-certs will be transferred to the new ID coverage, and got no where, she is supposedly calling me back. we will see. I am not going to hold my breath. If I can't get them transferred I will have to have her call and I am sure she will be annoyed. especially since it will only be a few sessions.
DH also had to get his FMLA re-approved with the new HR, so hopefully he still get's his 18 days off. We just had to scan an email the form to the new HR< but still a pain 1 week before the due date...GRRR gotta love the timing.
What a day! My aunt who had double bypass surgery back in June and then had a stroke, has been doing really good on her road to recovery. I saw her this past weekend.
Well yesterday she had an angiogram to find out more detail about the Aneurysms they found when they were looking at the stroke. Well on top of the one that she knew about that she had "fixed" 15 years ago, they found 5 more. Yep 5! 2 large ones and 3 small ones. They also found that her arteries aren't the greatest and that another stroke could happen any day. Her cartorid (sp? the main artery) has plaque in it but at least it's not clogged completely. They meet with the neurologist on Monday to find out what they are going to do. But I am sure they will have to go in and do another surgery. The last time she went in she lost a week of her memory and it was a pretty long road to recovery, so I can't imagine what it's going to be like with 2 to 5 that they have to take care, if they can even take care of them, as I don't know where they are in her brain.
Anyway - any PT & P you can send her way I would appreciate it.Thanks!
Kim and Cheryl and Devin--I don't blame you for having trouble keeping up with this thread, I totally do too and I don't even have kids!
Kim--Yay for the new stroller--I registered for the standard Phil and Teds on your rec from
