Kate - sorry about the insomnia lately. There is nothing worse than being tired but not being able to fall asleep. Ugh! I'm glad you slept a little better last night though.

My first appt is the 17th (Tues.) and its just with the prenatal nurse. I'll schedule my dating u/s at that appt and it will probably be a week or so after my appt. next week.

Well I had my first appointment today. It was the basic intake appointment, not much new at the practice, though they have moved offices to the new building that was just built. Saw one of the midwives and confirmed I was sticking with the midwives again, not the OBs. They had no on site ultrasounds available next week so I had to call a radiology place to set up an early dating ultrasound. I was hoping for something Thursday before we left for Atlanta. They had an appointment available tomorrow morning at 11am, so I took it.

So I am going to see bean tomorrow morning. I will be 7 weeks 4 days so it should work for dating the pregnancy. It is a bit early, but it was too good of a day to miss out, since they didn't have anything at the close offices on Thursday morning, which would mean I would have to wait till the 25th and my next OB appointment to have my ultrasound. So I will see the newbie tomorrow. DH will probably drive the short ones around in the car some, so that they don't get in the way, but we haven't decided yet.

Sarah - That's great on getting an U/S scheduled for tomorrow! Cant wait to see the bean, you will have to share.

AFM - I am having a little bit of back pain but only when walking...I had some different pains/pressures on my side, but not sure if that's the start of something or if it's just because she is in a different position. I feel like I have spent the entire day in the bathroom, but I think I am looking for signs that might not be there, so who knows....Hoping it's tonight.

Luckily tomorrow it's supposed to only be in the 80's which I think is what it was today, so much nicer than the 90+ we have been having :)

Hope everyone has a good weekend!

We have 1 little grain of rice with a heart beat of 144! Had my ultrasound this morning and everything looks good. Baby is right around 7 weeks and a few days old and has a happily beating heart.

I have two ultrasound pictures, but the scanner isn't working so I'll try to take pictures of them in a bit. I was shocked at how fast the ultrasound place was, my appointment was at 11am, I was in by 10:55 and done by 11:11, which was a bit of a pain since I had told Dan I won't be done till 12:30 most likely, so he wasn't paying that much attention to his phone, and didn't get my message about being done till 20 minutes after I was done.

Baby was able to be seen in a regular ultrasound, no dildo cam needed, I was expecting it, but they were able to see everything that was needed with the standard ultrasound. All in all a good ultrasound appointment.

Sarah - That's great that you were able to see the little bean!! I still can't believe they start out that small. It's so amazing to me.

AFM- Still here...not really anything different going on. I keep thinking maybe this will be it, but nothing. Been trying to DTD and eat spicy foods and walk, but nothing is happening. I really don't want to drink any Castor oil or anything. I am going to make some cookies that have cayenne pepper in them this morning. I haven't been feeling like eating in the morning but other than that nothing happening...

Leona ~ It's good to see you around. Funny about how you think you're belly is growing day by day. I guess in a sense it is. I just looked at your ticker... wow time is getting short on your your pregnancy.

Alyssa ~ Enjoy your new car.

Sarah ~ Glad you got to see your little grain of rice. It's amazing how small they start out.

Lisa ~ You must be excited about your appointment this week, and being able to schedule the dating US.

Jess ~ What kind of cookie has cayanne in it?

AFM ~ Nesting has kicked in full swing. DH and DS are out, and I am suppose to be relaxing, and really all I want to do is putter around and clean.

Kate - Below is the recipe, they are super yummy!! They are pretty much Ginger cookies (or ginger snaps w/extra kick). I got the recipe from some of the girls on my EC board. and I had about 5 or 6 this morning...so far nothing, but here's to hoping.

Jump Start Your Labor Cookies

2 1/2 c. flour
1 1/2 t. baking soda
3/4 t. cinnamon
1 t. ground ginger
1/2 t. ground cloves
1/2 t. salt
1/2 t. cayenne pepper
8 T. butter
1/2 c. sugar
1 c. brown sugar
1/3 c. molasses
1/4 c. egg whites

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine flour, baking soda and spices and set aside. Cream the butter and sugars together. Add the molasses to the creamed butter, then add the egg whites until combined. Addd the dry ingredients slowly. Once incorporated, roll dough into 1 inch balls and place onto baking tray. Bake 8-10 minutes. Once cool eat as many as you can possibly stomach, lay down for a nap and wait for labor to begin!
