How many weeks are you? 26.5 weeks!

Any exciting dates/appointments this month?  Well we have our glucose tolerance test  in 10 days!  But luckily my midwife just has me eat a more-sugary than normal type breakfast and then does it off that, so no horrible sugar drinks or anything.

Do you feel like you will go early or late?  I would LOVE to go early but unfortunately I have a feeling I will be right on time.

How are you feeling physically?  HOT.  Today was bad I couldn't do anything but sit around in my undies and bra with my feet in an ice water bath.  In other ways I'm still doing pretty good physically . . . he is definitely getting bigger but I'm still feeling okay.  I am uncomfortable in spurts but then my body seems to adjust and it's okay.

How are you feeling emotionally?  Pretty good!

What's on your to-do list to get ready for baby this month?  Still everything.  Groan.  Get new car.  Get new carseat (for Jamey).  Clean out our garage--plan our tag sale . . . At least we are all set in terms of clothes and gear (yay for having a second boy in the same month LOL)

Do you know the gender yet? If not, are you thinking pink or blue?  It's a boy!

**What tricks have you used to stay cool while PG in this unbearably hot summer?

Drinking lots of ice water---putting my feet in cold/ice water.  Taking cool baths.  Wearing as few clothes as possible.  Trying not to do too much.  If it's still this hot next week we'll be hitting up some A/C at the libary and MIL's house.  LOL

welcome Erin...I hope you have a wonderful pregnancy. The first few weeks have gone by slow for me but now that I have had my ultrasound and finally told the family I have a feeling they will fly by. Now I"m counting the weeks until we can make it public which will be after my next appointment at 10 weeks or we may wait another 2 weeks after that just to be safe which would make about 11-12. We'll have to see how we feel about it.

Have you made your doctor's appointment yet? It depends on the doctor how soon they will see you. Mine saw me 2 weeks after my positive test to do bloodwork and exama and then another 2 weeks after that for the dating ultrasound.

How many weeks are you? 26

Any exciting dates/appointments this month? Not really, had my gulcose test on Friday, my next apt is on Aug 31st- I will be 30 weeks then.

Do you feel like you will go early or late? Late.

How are you feeling physically? Eh, okay. My hips and back get pretty sore at night.

How are you feeling emotionally? All over the place. Happy one minute, crying the next.

What's on your to-do list to get ready for baby this month? Go through what clothes I have in the barn to see what I actually need to get.

Do you know the gender yet? If not, are you thinking pink or blue? Another sweet baby boy.

**What tricks have you used to stay cool while PG in this unbearably hot summer? Stay inside as long as possible.

Ruby- Congratulations!! I am so happy for you!

Jamie- How is it possible that you are 30 weeks already?! You are going to have so much fun at your baby shower.

Liz- Ditto what I said about Jamie. How are you two 30 weeks already. At least your DH packed up Peter's clothes. Kevin wouldn't even attempt that. LOL

Shawn- Horray for not having to take Zofran anymore. I know I did a happy dance when I felt good enough to stop taking it.

CassieJ- Congratulations! So excited to see you back in this thread :smileyhappy: That stinks that you have a UTI, but it is good the caught it.

Ash- 36 weeks?! No way! I hope you get to enjoy the last few weeks with DS and DH, as a family of 3. How was your pediciure/facial?

Elyse- I can't wait to hear all about baby James' birth story. GL!

Jules- Sorry you have a kidney infection. That sounds awful, hope you are feeling better soon.

Amy- Congratulations! Sending lot lots of SBV's your way.

Jess- I hope they get the remodel finished soon.

Sandy- Glad your u/s went well.

Erin- Congratulations!! Weren't you on NQE? I was 4ish weeks with this pregnancy when I found out. I called the doctor right away, just so I knew that I had an apt scheduled. For all 3 of my pregnancies, they saw me at 9 weeks for my first apt. The second pregnancy they did do bloodwork right after I called them, because I think they didn't believe me. Haha.  The first visit they take a lot of family history and then to a internal exam (at least that is how it has been for me) so I would saiy a good 30 minutes or so. You may have an u/s picture by the 2nd trimester if you decide to get the first trimester screening done. I've done it each time, but I know some people who don't want to get it done.

Erin- It depends on the doctor. I was 6weeks 4 days for my ultrasound. Some won't see until later on. But you should have some kind of ultrasound when you tell. Then most doctors do the fetal anatomy scan around 20 weeks which you can find out the sex if you want to.

Congrats Amy! Congrats E!

E - I had my first appt. scheduled for around 7 weeks, if I remember correctly. But I had bleeding at around 5w3 or 4d, so they had me come in for blood work and they even did an early u/s. We saw an empty sac at that point. I went back in a week later for another u/s and we saw the heartbeat. I had a ton of u/s's during this pregnancy (b/c of the bleeding issues) so my case isn't really normal.

By the time you hit the 2T you should almost certainly have at least one u/s pic on the little bean. S/he'll likely be somewhere in the blob with a heartbeat to peanut with flippers size range! If you get the NT scan done (nuchal translucency scan) to check for Down's, Trisomy 18, etc. you'll also get some u/s pics from that. That has to be done between 11-14 weeks so it could coincide well with when you want to start telling people.

That scan was really fun for me (aside from the worrying, of course) because the baby had really started to look like a little human. We saw him stretch his arms when he woke up and cross his little ankles - just super, super cute. We told our parents right away about the pregnancy, but we used a photo from the NT scan to announce the pregnancy to close family at around Easter when I was 14-15 weeks. I actually scanned it into the computer, drew some bunny ears on his head in Paint, and said something like, "Somebunny will be here in about 6 months." It was cute!

Oh, and my doctor's office does two first appointments.  In the sense that you get one to do a regular exam - pelvic exam, pap smear, blood drawn, etc.  And then another to date the pregnancy with an u/s.  I don't know how busy or big your practice is, but I scheduled all my appointments for 7 am whenever I could because time in an ob-gyn's office is pretty wonky.  There are a fair number of emergency appts being crammed into the schedule here and there, so as the day goes on the schedule gets more and more jacked up.  I found it easier just to get there super early, be the first appt of the day, and then head to work from there.  In the early days when I wasn't telling work about the pregnancy, it was nice to not be taking a bunch of random time off all of a sudden.

E - As I am sure you've noticed when your DR wants to see you totally varies from practice to practice, also the length of appointments varies as well - from practice to practice and from type of visit to type of visit. When you go in for your background and medical history you'll probably want DH with you, as they need info from him as well.

If you opt for the triple screen testing (for Downs and such around 11-13 weeks) you get an US and have a picture then to use for your announcement.

A note about what Sandy said in regards to the US - even if your DR office does them your insurance may not cover them. You're going to want to speak to an insurance rep sooner rather than later. Although I think the new health care law may of changed some things. Either way you are probably going to want to touch base with your insurance company.
