Ruthie,

Have you asked your local LLL for doula recommendations? I'm sure they'll know of a few. www.llli.org

I can't believe you're less than 10 weeks from meeting your little boy! So excited for you!! :-D

Katja,

So very sorry to hear of your grandma's passing as well. Was she ill?

I have heard of spouses passing within a short time of one another. Both sad and sweet. I'm sure they are both watching over you and your baby-to-be from above with much happiness. :-)

Katja- I'm sorry about your grandmother's death... I've also known several cases where an elderly couple passes in a short period of time. It is sweet in a way... like they loved each other so much that they want to be reunited. I hope this isn't too hard on your mom, and I'm sure the baby will help her. ((hugs))

Kate, I'm sorry to hear about your grandmother. Losing both parents so close must be very difficult for your mom, and for your whole family. (((hugs))) It's nice that you guys were able to go shopping though, and I agree, I think it'll be very helpful for her to have something so sweet and exciting to look forward to with the baby coming. I think it's great to focus on what you're eating and your health, and not too much on weight gain. Sounds like you're on the right track.

Jenny - I can definitely see how leaving the city will be bittersweet for you guys. Having a large space and access to a lot of family will be great, but there's nothing like Manhattan & being so close to your sister has to be wonderful too. I hope you guys find something you love, quickly, out on LI. An u/s at 32 being an "insurance scam" sounds pretty severe to me. Is he kidding? I mean in one respect almost all u/s's are unnecessary as people had babies for millenia without them and other than letting you know if a mc is imminent or letting you know in advance if the baby has certain birth defects, they don't really "do" anything. But what does that have to do with anything? They're still routine prenatal care. He sounds like a big fat jerk.

Ladies I'm officially 37 weeks pregnant!!! "Dr. uncle" said that although ideally he would like me to make it till the 39th week, he is perfectly comfortable with the birth happening any day now.... I looked at him with my eyes popping out and said something like "39 weeks????? no please, take her out NOW!!!!!" Seriously, I've now reached the stage of "miserably huge". My belly is so big that most of my maternity clothes don't fit anymore, so I'm stuck cycling the same 4 or 5 outfits. Every day I waddle more, my pelvis hurts, my bladder hurts, I need to pee ALL THE FREAKIN´ TIME and my feet are like pillows!! But apparently I'm am the perfect example of a healthy pregnancy, so I just got a laugh from him!! And as my MIL said cheerfully yesterday "be careful what you wish for, in no time you will have a baby BF around the clock and a toddler demanding your attention!"
