Ah Liz... I feel you on the short labor and long hospital drive... my labor with Teddy was 2 hours (start to finish) and the hospital was an hour away; active labor in a car does not equal good times. DH wants to stay with family closer to the hospital when we reach that point again (his aunt and uncle and Nana both live with 5 minutes walking for the hospital). Any options like that for you? (Personally I am going to try to talk him into a homebirth.)

Kate--I live less than 10 minutes from the hospital. The only issue is if I'm at work. DH is ok with the idea of a homebirth, but I get too stressed out having people over if things aren't clean and perfect. I would be a wreck.

Christine--I'm not sure about the poll feature. I don't think so. Maybe we should just start a thread and ask. I think the true question would be what do we consider the start of labor? I know my water broke before I ever felt a contraction, so that was obvious. But judging early labor vs. active labor, etc could be tough.

Elyse--I'm hoping for a girl for you! :)

I'm glad you had a good first appt Jamie!!

Elyse is your appt today?

I was out last night at an event with a lot of women (whom I didn't know) celebrating international women's day. All of them were shocked when I said I was pregnant, stating they couldn't tell since I am still so thin. That made me feel good! I had extra dressed in such a way to cover the bump (plaid blouse buttoned to the middle with a long tank underneath) but it is always nice to hear that I still look good :D

Jamie,

Yes, I think shocked would cover how I am feeling right now. My LMP was January 11th, so I think I am around 8ish weeks. The "period" I thought I had last month I now think was implantation bleeding, because it was light and really early (like CD 20) but it lasted like 4 days that is why I thought it was a period.

Name: Cheryl

How many weeks are you? 8ish

Any exciting dates/appointments this month?I have my first apt on next Thursday, and then I am sure a dating u/s at some point

For those who have a bit longer to go:

What's on your to-do list to get ready for baby this month? Nothing really, yet. Too early.

How are you feeling? Crappy. It is like I got the BFP, and then all the sudden MS hit me like crazy.

Do you know the gender yet? Nope.

If you don't know are you thinking pink or blue? I am thinking another boy, but I would love to have a girl.

Mari,

I just noticed your ticker - 38 weeks today!! Woohoo!! Is Dr. Uncle letting you go past 39 weeks?

I know you're ready to be done, but hang in there mama, she'll be here in no time! Enjoy your last few weeks (or days!) as a family of 3. :-D
