I can't believe I'm at the top of the list!!
Adrienne, I don't know how you keep all this info straight, but you are amazing! How will we survive when James arrives?! I have a couple of changes- I had a second u/s yesterday and my due date is now May 26 and we are going to be Team Green.
Thanks! I'm so excited to be in this thread now!
Aww Andrea, you are so sweet!
Actually the pregnancy thread is super easy, since there is usually only a couple additions/deletions every month, and the tickers are really easy to do.
The front page for the babies and kids is the hard part, which is why I'm never QUITE caught up on it, hehe.
Anyway, I hope I'll be able to keep up once James gets here!
Thanks for starting the thread Adrienne, I'm really going to try to keep up with it this month! I cannot believe how high on the list I have gotten. In my mind, I still have a very long time before this baby gets here. A very long time. Pregnancy wise, I am tired of being pregnant, but baby-getting-here-wise, I want it to be a very long third trimester. I want James to do a lot more maturing before he has to be a big brother. Sigh... I am super excited for the baby to get here and everything, I'm just nervous about having two I guess.
Everything is going pretty good though. I'm just now starting to feel fat and uncomfortable. I have my GTT next week, which I'm not looking forward too, and I'm currently in the process of hunting for a doula. Anyone have any advice on what to look for in a doula?
I hope everyone is doing great, I read all the time, I've just gotten really bad posting, hopefully this month will be better ;-)
Wow! Talk about a baby boom!
Nothing much exciting going on over here right now. I had my first midwife appt. yesterday and I loved her! I was unhappy with the way Ry's birth ended up (scheduled "post-term" induction, multiple interventions, oxygen-deprived baby, NICU stay), especially since I've been reading some scary things about the connection between pitocin and oxygen deprivation in babies and the connection between oxygen deprivation and SPD, so I'm hoping to do an unmedicated birth in a birth center this time.
I'm having the first trimester genetic screening, including an ultrasound, Nov. 4th and I'm looking forward to seeing the little one. I'll be 12ish weeks at that point...it's a long wait!
For now, I'm just ridiculously nauseous, so much more so than when I was preggo with Ry. It started at 4 weeks and is still going strong. I'm having severe food aversions and there's almost nothing left I can stomach. I actually even started eating eggs again (usually a vegan), because I can't choke down any vegan sources of protein at all. The midwife green-lighted a Unisom and B6 combo, so I'm going to give that a shot and hope it helps!
Looking forward to chatting with you all!
Thanks for setting up the thread, Adrienne! How exciting to be at the top of the list! It's crazy to me to see myself in the middle!
Megan, congratulations! I'm glad you found a great midwife and I hope that you get the birth experience you want. Also hope the m/s eases up some and you can eat. That was the hardest part of it for me.
Grace, I'm glad things are going well. Sorry you are starting to get uncomfortable. Good luck with your GTT test!
So happy it's Friday! I am very ready for a nice relaxing weekend. Anyone have any fun plans?
Grace--I can't believe you are almost in the third trimester! I feel like the time has just flown by! You are a great Mommy and I'm sure you'll handle two like an ole pro! ;-)
Megan--I'm so excited that you are here! :-D
That is awesome that you loved your midwife! Good for you for doing your research and having a birth plan you feel more comfortable with. I hope you have a nice unmed labor (on the baby's own time) this time around.
I love my midwife, too, but she has an apprentice who is really nice and sweet, but DH has a hard time connecting with her. :-/ I think it is important to support midwife learning, though, so I don't want to exclude her.
The nausea sounds awful!! I'm so sorry you are going through that! Do you know about Chia seeds? They have a really high amount of high-quality protein and they are easy to mix in with anything (stirfries, rice, oatmeal, etc) and have pretty much zero taste. Maybe that would help you sneak some protein in . . .
I have heard of so many vegans that went back to eating cheese/eggs/meat while they were pregnant. I feel pretty lucky that I didn't have bad m/s and my cravings were all like fruit and salads and soy yogurt.
Anyway, good luck with the Unisom, and if the m/s is really bad, don't be afraid to go with the prescription stuff--it seems to help a lot for people that need it.
Maybe the really bad m/s means you are on the pink team this time around! ;-)
Sarah--Seriously, talk about a baby boom! I hope it keeps up! :-)
Emmy--You just wait, now that you are out of the first trimester, the time will REALLY start flying by! Though honestly it seems like other people's pregnancies go WAY faster than my own, I can't figure why that is, hehe.
AFM--This weekend me and DH are going to have a nice dinner at my Grandma's to celebrate my Dad's birthday (apparently she was really excited to make us a bunch of vegan things, hehe). I'm going to make a version of a pineapple upside down cake. I think the pineapple part will be the middle layer and then I will use regular frosting on the top and outside of the cake. This is my Dad's favorite kind of cake but I really want regular frosting, too, LOL.
I have sort of a suspicion that it is actually my shower, though, I'm not sure. At this point, I would be suspicious of any situation in which my presence is required because it has to happen sometime soon!
So that would be fun if it was! I'll let you guys know on Tuesday (I'm going to be so bored over the weekend without IV)! Hopefully the new upgrades are nice and not too hard to learn.
Wow, it's October already!? I can’t believe we’re at the top of the list, Adrienne!
Grace – I can understand wanting to be done with the pregnancy already too. Hopefully the next part goes by quickly for you. Good luck finding a doula!
Megan – so cool to see you here! I’m sure the next month will fly by and you’ll get to see your LO soon. That’s awful about the m/s and food aversions. I remember I could only eat a couple things in those early weeks too. Hopefully it doesn’t last too long.
Emmy – congrats on your baby GIRL!! It’s nice to have some pink in the sea of blue! I wouldn’t worry about your weight gain at this point. I actually lost weight in the 1T because I was so nauseated all the time. But, I made up for it in the 2T!
Adrienne – I would be suspicious about every event too if I were waiting on a surprise shower! I’m sure whatever the event is though it will be a blast. That cake sounds yummy! Oh, and I LOVE your new siggie!
**waves hi to everyone else!**
AFM - we had another u/s today to check Evan's measurements again. We got to see him hiccup, yawn, stick out his tongue, move his arms, and kick! It amazes us every time - how crazy is it that there is a baby inside of me doing all this stuff?
Here are a couple photos we got. The first one is a profile picture, the second is one of his feet :)
