No personals right now, sorry, just a quick update. I had my first dr's appt today which ended up just being a confirmation u/s (with the dr, not an u/s tech). I have one 'blob' with a nice bright heartbeat - yay! And based on the dr's quick measurements my EDD based on LMP is pretty accurate, May 3. I go back in two weeks for a long nurse appt (where they talk to you about everything) and a long appt with a mw.

Hi Molly,

Montreal is a lovely city, its one of my favorite big cities in Canada, second to Ottawa. I've only been there a few times but I recommend getting downtown near the Bell Centre, parking your car and walking around....tons of restaurants and shopping. There is also Old Montreal (Vieux Montreal) which is supposedly fun to explore...I've only driven through it briefly (with family that didnt want to stop). If you have the chance and enjoy hockey, its likely you could hit a Habs game at the Belly Centre...its a totally different atmosphere than American games.

The only restaurant I've eaten at in Montreal is Wienstein and Gavinos which was amazing. Its mostly Italian food, and its very good. There is also some very good Canada chains like The Keg (Steak) and Baton Rouge (Ribs are the best ever, Steak). These are places that most couples will spend at least $50 to 75 for their meals including drinks but if you're not ordering alcohol, its a bit cheaper of course :) There are tons of less expensive options though. Casey's is my favorite middle of the road restaurant. Oh and try some Poutine (poo-tin) when in Montreal....its an Eastern Canada/French Canadian must have if you've never had it and no better place than a really French community like Montreal.

Lisa – glad everything went well at your first appointment. How exciting about the potential job options! Have you decided what you’re going to do yet?

Adrienne – I hope you have a great trip!

Kate – good luck at your appointment on Friday.

Sarah – that’s nice that your ILs are changing the timing of their vacation so they are here for the birth. I’m sure that’s a relief. Good luck deciding on whether you want to be on the green team or not. Keep us posted!

Brita – glad everything is looking great!

Molly – I started taking belly pictures pretty early (about 6 weeks). It’s funny looking back on those pictures because at that time I was convinced I was starting to show! LOL! You can see my belly progression here: http://picasaweb.google.ca/cassiopeiae77/BabyBelly

Oh, I love Montreal! Definitely go to Old Montreal – lots of great shops, restaurants, etc. there. There are also some great museums (of course I can’t remember the names of them right now). I second the suggestion to get some poutine. And definitely get some Montreal bagels and a Montreal smoked meat sandwich too! Here’s the Montreal tourism site to give you some ideas:
http://www.tourisme-montreal.org/

**waving hi to everyone else!!**

AFM – after the bloody mucus scare over the weekend (see my other post), I think we’re doing okay now. There have been no other signs of early labor, so that’s good.

I am so bored at work these days! The list of things I need to get done before I go on maternity leave is getting shorter and shorter, and it’s making for really long and boring days. I actually came home at 1:30 yesterday because I had nothing to do. I do have a couple bigger things that need to get done, but I’m waiting on other people to send me information I need. Hopefully things will pick up again soon because I’d rather be busy at work than not!

Molly - So excited for you telling your friends. Those are exciting times. And Montreal... very nice. We've talked about going there for a 5 year anniversary. My appointment isn't until this Friday. Oh, and I would totally start belly shots now, that way you have a "before" picture. I only have 1 belly shot of me w/ DS and that was at 36 weeks. This time around we are doing them every 4 weeks... we started when we found out and then did 8, 12, 16... and 20 is next week.

Alyssa - Congrats about the job, fingers crossed for you that everything works out. Any more bloody show since this weekend?

Lisa - Wishing you all the best with you job decisions.

Sarah - Too funny about the ILs guessing about the new baby. glad they are able to re-arrange their trip. Good luck with the name hunt. Your post wanted me to ask about some of our names so bad, but we have sworn not to tell a soul what we are thinking about.

Brita - Yay for little heartbeats!!!

AFM - I was reviewing all the baby classes the hospital offered, and I sent my mom the link to the "new grandparents class", I wasn't sure if she would be interested since this is her 5th grandbaby, but she was. More surprising my Harley-riding-barn-building step-father want's to go. So they are signing up. I talked to my mom more about it, and it turns out they want to be there when the baby is born. Which is such a change because when I had DS she couldn't deal with the thought of me being in pain and waited in the lobby. I told her it was OK, as long as we had someone to watch DS...but once the pushing started they ahd to wiat outside.

We're taking 5 classes total. I wanted to take the express childbirth class, but we can't go to the one in Nov and the next one isn't until Jan. So we're taking the 4 week class. We're also taking "Happiest Baby", "Breastfeeding 101", "Baby Safety" and "Baby Gear and Safety Requirements". The baby safety requirements focus on CPR and stuff like that, the baby gear one is about the laws and such surrounding carseats, cribs, etc.

Kate - I haven't had any more bloody discharge since the weekend, but I am still getting mucus (though more watery now than EW, which makes me feel better). All those classes sound so great, and that's wonderful your mom and step-father are interested in the grandparents class. Let us know how they all go.

Everyone - this thread has been pretty quiet lately! So, here's some questions:

1. How are you feeling these days? Biggest complaint?

2. How are the preparations for baby coming along?

3. Any big appointments coming up?

4. Any plans for the fall?

5. What's been your favorite thing about pregnancy so far?

So I thought I might poke my head in and say hello. I'm still rather cautious as it's early days, but I guess I can't just worry through the whole 1T!
I don't think there's anyone on this thread who doesn't know me, so I won't introduce myself here, but if you have any questions feel free to ask :-)
Alyssa - questions are always fun!

1. How are you feeling these days? Biggest complaint?
Quite good, but seeing that I'm only 5w4d it's probably too early for nasty symptoms yet.

2. How are the preparations for baby coming along?
Er, what preparations? LOL. I haven't even started thinking about that. But then as it's #2 there won't be that much to prepare anyway.

3. Any big appointments coming up?
Unfortunately, no. I have to wait until 12 weeks for the first u/s. I should have my first midwife appointment in 2 or 3 weeks though.

4. Any plans for the fall?
Well, we're going to see my family at the end of October which will be nice. My dad should be back home by then (he's recovering fast) so Teddy will get to see his maternal grandparents for the third time in his life.

5. What's been your favorite thing about pregnancy so far?
Seeing that first BFP! And the second. And the third. And the (insert random number here). Oh, and the one I took this morning to check I'm still pregnant! ;-)

Alyssa ~ I think we posted at the same time yesterday. Glad you're doing better.

AFM ~ Yesterday I had 2 episodes of very light "light pink" spotting. And while I know I felt the baby last night, I don't really seem to think I feel him/her today. I'm probably being overly paranoid right now. We've had a lot of loss on our EC recently, and I have a number of friends IRL who have lost babies late pregnancy. Baby is usually more active after lunch... so I shall rest and see. To answer your questions:

1. How are you feeling these days? Biggest complaint?
~~ Feeling good. Wish I could sleep better and wish I could feel the baby more often (which will come in later pregnancy).

2. How are the preparations for baby coming along?
~~ Perpetrations - you must be kidding. We need to get our butt in gear.

3. Any big appointments coming up?
~~ Not really. "20 week" is tomorrow, and I think the GD testing is coming up soon as well.

4. Any plans for the fall?
~~ Aside from the usual, we have 2 weddings to go to. One this weekend and one in Nov (in DC). I am looking forward to this one, but not the one in Nov. DH and DS are both in the wedding, and aside from them the only other ppl I will know there are the bride and groom. So not looking forward to sitting by myself through the ceremony and dinner, etc.

5. What's been your favorite thing about pregnancy so far?
~~ Nothing so far. Don't get me wrong, I love being pregnant. But I am far more worried about everything this time around, and that seems to be putting a damper on things.
Oh wait, when I am PG I have the most amazing clear skin... I really like that.

Great idea. I guess people are just waiting for things to happen around here ;)

1. How are you feeling these days? Biggest complaint?
I'm sooo tired and I've got the nausea now.

2. How are the preparations for baby coming along?
We haven't done anything yet, except for starting to online shop for a new car. I'm only 6w6d.

3. Any big appointments coming up?
Seeing the new midwife and u/s on the 29th. Hopefully get to see a HB!

4. Any plans for the fall?
Just trying to take it easy and not have to announce to the world until we know things will work out. We're visiting family in southern Virginia for Thanksgiving week.

5. What's been your favorite thing about pregnancy so far?
Nothing yet! LOL. I haven't gotten to anything fun. Well I guess I'll second Anna's sentiment. All the BFPs were pretty cool :)

*Wave* Hi all. I'll answer the questions too. I noticed the whole board is kind of quiet recently. Anyways onto the questions.

1. How are you feeling these days? Biggest complaint?
Feeling decent, still a bit tired, but that could be because of my two monsters not the baby! Biggest complaint is my breasts, the aurolas are peeling, and I can't seem to do anything to help them heal. Eloise and very rarely Desmond are only nursing on the left side, but the right side is actually worse then the left side. I have no clue what to try at this point in time, I've been lanoshing them numerous times a day and it isn't helping. I may break down and visit the breastfeeding problems and ask if anyone has an idea. I do know it isn't thrush or mastis, which is good, but it is really annoying.

2. How are the preparations for baby coming along?

I need to prepare? No one told me that. Honestly we just have to pull out a couple of things for the baby, we'll probably get around to it sometime in March. We do need to figure out the car seat arrangement, but that can wait till February or so as well. Other then that baby is staying in our bedroom, and I have tons of infant clothes from Desmond and Eloise and since baby is due at the same time they are I am basically set.

3. Any big appointments coming up?

I need to go to the lab for labwork on Saturday morning, and I have my next appointment next Tuesday, but it is a basic appointment. I'll have another one at the end of October and then after that my ultrasound is scheduled for November 11th, but that is far enough away, that it isn't really coming up soon.

4. Any plans for the fall?

We are going up to Sesame Place this weekend and meeting my parents up there. It should be fun. We went apple picking last weekend which was fun. We'll go again at the end of October as well. Eloise and I are flying down to Atlanta for my sister's baby shower over the weekend of October 16th which should be nice. We're finally celebrating Halloween at our house for the first time since Desmond was 6 months old and I can't wait to see the two small ones go trick or treating. We are probably going somewhere towards the end of October/beginning of November to celebrate my Dad's 60th birthday which will be fun. We are going to Atlanta for Thanksgiving as well like always. It is a fairly quiet fall which is nice after our busy summer (I do realize listing it all it doesn't look that quiet, but really compared to this summer it is). It is going to be nice to have some weekends at home to relax.

5. What's been your favorite thing about pregnancy so far?

Feeling newbie move.
