So I had some spare time this afternoon and treated myself to an hour of browsing around Babies R Us.

Congrats again on your son:)

I have experience with some, but not all of your questions:

Diapers-I do just cloth, so am not sure about Gdiapers.

I also have experience with some of these, so here are my thoughts:

Crib - I'd check it out and make sure it meets the safety guidelines now, but I would probably buy a new one. We decided that we would definitely buy a crib and a car seat new, since those both have many safety concerns.

Changing Pad - we don't have covers for ours and haven't had an issue so far.

Pack n' Play - we bought one used and are basically using it as a storage space in the living room for baby things! LOL! If you have a bassinet and a cradle, you probably won't need one of these until baby outgrows these. You can get smaller PNPs that are meant specifically for traveling.

Thermometers - we just have an oral one, but take his temp. in his armpit (that's what they did at the hospital).

Monitors - we bought an audio one. We haven't used it yet because he's sleeping in our room. Honestly, unless you have a huge house or something, you probably won't need one!

Crib sheets - we have about 10, but that's because my mom made us a bunch! We have flannel and cotton. I would think flannel would be nicer in the winter - anything to keep them warmer, right? But, he's not sleeping in his crib yet so I don't have much to say about it.

Bassinet Bedding - we just wrap the mattress with a thin receiving blanket. This is nice, especially if the baby spits up a lot, because you can just change the blanket, which are super cheap!

Molly, if you are interested, I just typed up the list below for my sister in law . . . HTH!

Here's the things I liked the best:

-Bobby pillow: http://www.amazon.com/Boppy-Expandable-Miracle-Middle-Pillow/dp/B000KW5I6E/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1295383470&sr=8-1

-also register for the waterproof cover, to protect the boppy: http://www.amazon.com/Boppy-769662311205-Protective-Water-Resistant-Slipcover/dp/B002WDEIVA/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1295383422&sr=8-5

-and two outer slipcovers (to go over the waterproof cover), because they get spitup, milk, and pee on them so you need one to use while you wash the other one.

Not a BTDT, but some things I've heard:

One of my good friends does cloth diapers and got some g-diapers with her newest baby.
