So I haven't read a thing about pregnancy (although I do know some of the basics).

A lot of people don't like a Girlfriend's Guide to Pregnancy. I don't mind it but I also have about 15 other books to look at so her strong opionions don't bother me. I think this is one to check out from the library though if you do.

Ina May's guide to childbirth is popular if you are looking to do a natural birth.

I also have The mother of all pregnancy books which has a lot of information but which I find to be very boring.

Pregnancy sucks is my favorite but it isn't really full of information it is more a companion to pregnancy from a woman who has been there and been miserable LOL.

Honestly I would suggest going to the library if you have a well stocked one, or the bookstore and flipping through the pregnancy books until you find one that you immediately continue reading for a few pages or one that seems more suited to you then the rest- then I would go ahead and buy it.

The one I have found to be the Best, lots of good info, clear, etc., is Dr Sears Pregnancy Book. If you want detailed birth info then his Birth Book is great too. I love all of the Dr Sears books that I've read.

Second for PG books would be Your Pregnancy Week by Week.

Personally I'd avoid What to Expect. It's popular & all, but is really short on detail information, IMO. You can definitely scope out books at the library & decide if there's one or more you want to buy. Second hand stores often have the PG books too.

My FAVORITE PGcy related book is Journey into Motherhood: Inspirational stories of natural birth: http://www.amazon.com/Journey-into-Motherhood-Inspirational-Stories/dp/0974785326/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1252763956&sr=1-1

I have read it cover to cover probably over 5 times. Even if you don't want to have a natural birth, I think the book is SO amazing at helping women realize that birth is an amazing and transformational experience, and that it is something you should be excited for, and not fear. It is a collection of stories written by mothers about their birth experiences, and all of them are very positive.

Other PG books I like are You and Your Baby Pregnancy, and Your Pregnancy Week by Week.

(Yes Yes, I am not PG, but I still have a lot of PGcy books, LOL)
