Second Trimester Chat August

Here is the place to talk about things specifically related to the second trimester:)

There is still going to be a general pregnancy chat so no one should feel left out or anything like that- just thought this would help with the huge amount of posts in one thread, which can be overwhelming.

Mari~

I don't know much about BH (you might want to post something as a separate thread that the Baby group can respond to as well), but I have had something similar.

Cassie - If youre friends give you lip about not comig to their stuff, then maybe you should just come out & ask - So, who is going to throw my baby shower, have you all decided yet? Sometimes peole are just too self absorbed for their own good. Maybe post ift on FB, if they're all on there? LOL!

Lora - How frustrating it is to have the birth calss possibly fouled up bc of a little detail. Surely they'd call you or something before giving your spot away! If you need any help with the new sewing projects I'd be happy to help!

Marianna - That does sound like BH ctx. If it wasn't terribly uncomfortable & there's no spotting or anything, then don't worry about it. We have them a lot more often than we know, but sometimes there is a stronger one. It can happen on it's own, but it can also be a sign of dehydration &/or over-doing it, esp if it happens often.

AFM - I'm feeling pretty good lately, but I'm sick of getting tired so easily! I don't suppose that's likely to change any time soon, though. I do like how much doing my prenatal yoga video loosens up tight sore muscles. I feel like I should do it more often, but I'm thrilled that I'm mostly getting it in twice a week. Now if I could just get in a 15+ minute walk 3-4 times a week too! Ah well. Are you all getting any exercise in? If you don't know, squatting is really important during PG. It helps to stregnthen & tone the pelvic flor as well as making the perineum more flexible - reducing the chance of tearing during birth. So if you do nothing else, squat next to your bed every night before going to sleep. As long as you can comfortably at first working your way up to several minutes. Heels don't need to touch the floor, just squat. :)

Thanks Christine for the suggestions.

Lora, what you said makes a lot of sense. Earlier that night I had been feeling kicks on my bladder (really uncomfortable!!), so that could be it. Thank goodness I haven´t felt it again, because just like you said, I was terrified that something was wrong and I had gone in to labor!!!

Noel, thanks for the reassurance! By the way, I think I have the right mental picture, but I need to ask... what is exactly "squatting"?

I´m picturing the position you use when you pee behind a bush?? (sorry TMI!)

Noel - Re: exercise, so far my only daily exercise is walking. I attempted to use our Wii Fri. night but the remote needed new batteries and darn, we didn't have any AA batteries in the house! LOL But I did do the 1-mile WATP video instead. My MW reminded me yesterday that I'm supposed to be doing the pelvic rock, kegels, tailor sitting and squatting exercises as well. She said the pelvic tilt should eliminate my need to have to go through the BR throughout the night (lately I've been getting up 1-3x's night). I also want to look into a pre-natal swim class if it isn't too expensive. Love the squatting pics, btw! Too funny!!

I also wanted to ask you about the Denver area (if I remember you live in CO?) DH and I are thinking of going away last-minute for Labor Day and instead of going to Vegas like we always do, I suggested a new city like Seattle or Denver. Any suggestions on where to stay? Downtown, suburbs?

Mari - Have you had any more BH contractions? I can't believe there's only 2 more days till your big reveal?

Cassie - How are you feeling today, hon? I agree with Noel that you might want to just ask your friends about who's throwing the shower.
