Amber - That's awesome that your DH can feel the baby kick! We just had that experience for the first time this weekend. I was feeling thumps and had DH put his hand on my belly and he felt three kicks, one of which was like five thumps in one (and the biggest one I'd felt). It's nice when they can be a part of it.

AFM - I met with a doula today, and that went well. She just seemed like a calm, knowledgeable resource. Plus I'd been having reservations about my doctor (who has a c-section rate of 35%; NJ has the highest c/s rate in the country :/), so she recommended one who wasn't c-section or induction happy. Luckily it matched up with my insurance AND I was able to get an appt for the end of the month, so hopefully I'll like her enough to make the switch. I'm quite relieved. A c/s isn't the end of the world by any stretch, but I want to have the best chance possible of a natural birth and I'd kick myself if I didn't at least explore my options.

Is it possible to feel like you are going crazy and not be? I had another break down today and they seem to be happening way more often the farther along in the pregnancy I get....

DH called me up this afternoon to talk to me about all this vacation time he has. We had planned on going on Vacation up to his parents Time share in June. His brother was driving up with Mike, and then I was driving up with my SIL, so that DH and I could drive back together that Wednesday. Well all of a sudden he is talking about staying the entire week, so I would have to drive home on Wednesday. I totally broke down!

I am just feeling like there is so much I have to sacrifice and I am feeling so selfish about that. I know that's part of being a parent, but it irritates me that he can go and spend the entire week up there, take another couple of days off to go to Canada to visit his family in July (About 1 month before I am due) and then take some time for hunting in the fall. But the only vacation I am getting all year are holidays off from work, then 3 days for this Timeshare vacation and my maternity leave, which will be great, but not a "vacation". and even during my mat leave I will be going into the hole with my PTO which is also my sick time.

I know I am just being crabby and upset about what's going on with my Aunt. but it still so hard. I hate this up and down of this stupid hormone roller coaster!

Jess--

I know exactly where you're coming from. DH is making an 8 day trip to Canada next month during his 8 days off. According to him-"You won't miss me; you'll be too busy working."

I definitely think you should stress to him that you don't want to have to drive back by yourself and then stay in an empty house. And I can't believe that he's wanting to make a trip a month before you're due! That's insane. I understand that family time is important, I really do, but our DHs need to realize that we're their family, and our babies are their family, and they need to be there to take care of us.

Good luck getting it all sorted out with him. And I totally feel you on using all your leave time; I'm looking into whether or not I would qualify for shared leave so my parents can donate time to me. Otherwise, I'll have 22 paid days. Oy.

He emailed me back after I spilled my guts and said we would chat tonight and that he wants to hear my feelings/concerns.

I told him he could go to Canada on the 17th of July but that was before I knew he was taking an entire week for the vacation in June. So that one is partially on me, and I am fine with him going, because he hasn't seen that side of the family in like 3 or 4 years, and who knows when we will make it up there again, but I just wish I could go with, and I wish I could take the entire time in June.

I might see if I can work remotely the last two days then he will get "his" time during the week but I will still get to work and be up there at night...might work. we will have to see.

I think I am just crabby and these hormones are making it worse. I went to get dressed this afternoon - I was working from home today - and I have like no clothes that fit anymore and we are trying to save on money.

I'm glad that he's willing to sit down and discuss it. I really hope you can figure out something that works out beneficially for both of you.

Mary,

Make sure you take it with citrus, like OJ or Five Alive. It absorbs better. Taking with dairy counteracts it. Also if you find it too harsh (ie constipation), then ask your doc/mw if you can take it every other day.
