Strept B worries

I just got back from the Strept B screening, and I'm really nervous!!!

As most of you know (since I've talked about it a gazillion times) Fede was in the NICU when he was 3 weeks old. The diagnosis was "neonatal sepsis", and he was fighting for his life for a few days. All tests came back inconclusive, but one of the main suspects was strept B.

(I DID have a sterpt B screening in my last pregnancy, but since it came back negative, my old OB dismissed the "theory" without really paying me any attention... another of the reasons I changed OBs)

Anyways. FF to this pregnancy, I'm obviously more than worried to repeat history. So I told my worries to my new OB and he ordered a new screening with a specialist, and cultures to see vulnerability to antibiotics if there is any bacteria present.

I went in today, told this whole story to the Dr. and he assured me he would have extra care with the process, but warned me that this kind of test has a rather high "false negative" rate. So even if it comes back negative, I can't be 100% sure there isn't any bacteria that could potentially cause problems.

To make matters worse, I took a shower right before going there (you know, a lady wants to be decent while someone is taking a peek at her privates... ). But now I'm obsessing thinking that maybe I washed away the germs and the screening will come back negative... all for an excess of hygene!!!!!!

You know, I'm almost wishing to get a positive so I can get a nice round of antibiotics!!!!!!

As you can see, I'm kind of freaking out here. So..... I'd apreciate some prayers and positive thoughts!!!
